    That looks good.

I know what you mean about not getting a lot done lately.
I was hoping to get to go to the Roundup this year and meet a bunch of the guys I correspond with on here but that is not going to happen.

I am guessing I am going to try to go to the Meltdown this year.

Check out my thread in my signature and you can see what's been happening with us.

Going down to Coker's for their annual cruise and they are having a swap meet I am going to sell a bunch of old magazines if all goes well:)

I've heard the melt down drags rule! I'd love to go to that-!! We try and get down to the roundup every year- we have a newborn so not sure how that'll pan out this year. I'll have to check out the link when I get on a computer it doesn't show up in the app-!

Mounted front shocks today- they're rear shocks from a 41 ford. I cut the ends of the arms off and flipped the ball- then welded a ball mount on the bottom of the bone.

Thanks man- Like a pretzel! I'll smooth it out/tig fill any valleys when I prep those things for chrome. I had to drop them for the axle and then spin them around to get the tie rod below the bones.

I mocked up 41 front shocks on the rear- I think I'll be able to mount those in almost a stock location mounted to the model a spring over mounts I mounted to that 40 rear.

Your build threads always inspire me and want to start another hot rod. Haha. I have a full set of '47 Ford shocks that now I'm thinking I should just hoard..

  9. Tuck, I keep coming back to this thread as a reference point. So many great ideas in here.

I know I've asked you about this before, but you've done with the Y block what I'm planning on doing with the Olds... using the stock centre mount. I've been wracking my brain on how best to to set up the front crossmember. I want to retain the stock A crossmember, so as to use the flange behind it, like you have. However, I want to add some caster without putting the spring in a bind.
For your front crossmember, it looks like you cut out the top, and re-welded it on an angle to add caster without removing/replacing the front crossmember. Can you confirm?

Thanks man- yes that's what I did- I added a piece that has a larger radius than the spring and set that at the angle I wanted.

Sorry man nothing new but... I plan to bolt it all back together for the local show coming up here end of June. I want to bring this and my roadster chassis to the show- I just think it would be cool to roll them both out. So much work in both of em right now.

I totally agree with this... :) I could put the star destoryer on the trailer behind the ranch- and then the other two in the enclosed... hmmmm...

I worked on the truck the whole Friday before the show. I cut off the rear 40 spring hangers. I trimmed the crossmember a little more for the torque tube and made a nice little cap for it. I drilled and mounted the front shocks. I did a bunch of cleanup grinding. I ended up blasting the chassis and cleaning up all the parts before putting it back together.

    With this last pic I can really see it as an RPU! (-;

I had a headlight bar for this thing but couldn’t find it... anywhere...
I ended up buying another one

I found some 903-j’s but Rich Bloedorn Turned me on to some Arrow 775’s which look really similar only on a diet.

I wanna get both and mock up- I really like the look of King bees too but they’re even thinner- won’t know until I get them on the truck!

I put a wanted add for some but If anyone has any arrows DM me!

    Thanks,
    Tuck

I need to make a headlight bar jig so I can drop the headlights about 3 or so inches- and then they’ll be in the zone!

Nothings really bolted the fenders are just sitting there. I traded into really mint fenders over the summer. Got a nice splash apron too.

I realized I need to order some hardware for the fenders too/headlight bar too-

I made a jig which worked but the half tubes tilted and put pressure on the ball so I’m making slides that will go up and down on each side of the c-channel that will get welded to those and keep them from moving-

I dropped them 4 3/4” approx... I used a 3/8” plate as a spacer/stop. I was originally gonna go 3 1/2” but it looked like I had plenty of room to go more and still clear the headlight and bolt-

I ran out of time otherwise I would’ve mocked up the arrows.
