I remember a buddy telling me about you needing world class jeep input shaft, is that true?

Just a simple T5 out of an S10 with the mechanical speedo being mated to a 283 Chevy in a Model A Coupe. I’ve been told the regular s10 shaft is too long but a certain jeep input shaft would work.

All depends on which T5 you have. There are the s10, mustang, and camaro units.

S10 will be non world class unless its 1993, may not hold up well behind a V8.

Or, shorten the pilot shaft and shorten the bearing retainer.

I used the input shaft from a Jeep. The reason was clutch parts would be more readily available. I used a Chevrolet clutch, pressure plate from a mid 60's nova. I had to shorten the input shaft.
I hope this works try this www. lugnutz65chevystepside.weebly.com

What input shaft do you have now with the s10, the 14 spline? The tip of the pilot would need to be shorter, and speedway has a 10" clutch disk for 14 spline. I would urge against a S10 unit behind a v8 in a hot rod. They were rated at 240ftlbs is all, the gear set is very low and the weakest of all t5's.
