Next step is to get the small block on the stand and cleaned up. Then see if I have to drill and tap for the front mount adapter.
It's a '59 283 some are drilled some aren't.

Grease or should I say Greeze......is better than dry in so many cases as it preserves whats underneath as in no pitting...​

 

Oh I agree but man what a PITA! The gunk is/was over an inch thick in places . I pulled this engine out of a 59 Impala and I don’t think it had been clean once in it’s entire life. It still ran smooth though.
I tried multiple cleaners to remove the grease, Gunk degreaser, Easy Off oven cleaner and what finally worked and what I should have used in the first place is Dawn dish soap and hot water.

It was coming along great. Still in progress? I left mine tall also.

 

Not a peep from him... With the summer passed and snow already in parts of Canada, it's likely we won't hear from him anytime soon... Possibly he sold the T and still pissed off...

 

Thats a bummer. As we all know life happens and we try to build Hot Rods in between.

Looks like a great start! Keep it up! I have been working on mine for three years now, and hopefully it will end real soon!

 

Here’s an update. Summer was busy playing with my Fleetline and off topic Impala, the fall was busier with boring old house and work crap.
There’s been a direction change with the coupe, well mostly that it’s not a coupe anymore, lol. I’ve sold the body but still have my messed up rolling chassis.
I’m currently searching for T roadster body pieces. When I first found the coupe I was looking for a roadster and after some soul searching and wondering what my next step was going to be I realized I should just build what I wanted in the first place a late fifties early sixties T bucket. Heavily influenced by the Kookie Kar but different. I like the 23 cowl with 27 touring tub of that car.
Picture a kid with that Time Magazine somewhere in the Midwest piecing together his own version of Grabowski’s bucket.
So while I look for body parts (I have a few solid leads local to me) I’m going to fix the bodged together chassis.
In the meantime here’s some pics of the body going bye bye and the sketchy chassis.
