Hi, this might be sort of a loosely conceived theme here, but I'm interested in folks' 3/4 ton and 1 ton (or larger) trucks. Nothing against the half tons, but I'd like to see some F250's, 350's, 3800's, etc. I've got a '58 F250 and I love it that much more BECAUSE it's a 3/4 ton truck. Different. That being said, sometimes it's harder to find parts that work when it comes to say, getting the stance right, or upgrading to dual circuit brakes, and so on. Seems like a lot of the aftermarket parts available for this generation of truck are limited to the F100's. So, to wrap up here, just interested in pictures of folks' 3/4 ton and up trucks. Additionally, if anyone would like to share any modifications(performance, safety, whatever) they've accomplished, that'd be cool too!

  11. Ok. Here is what I did to my bigger ford
I did a gm suspension swap Got disc brakes and ability to use dropped spindles and such. Both the ford and gm frames are 34 inches wide so the graft was easy.
I used the hydro boost brakes from a motorhome. Works great

If you want to upgrade the stock axle the guys at the ford enthusiasts site would have the info. Also if you decide to drop the stock axle, Sids axles can do that

Wow! KingFord, good eye! That why I only took pics of the bed... to keep the gestopo off my back! I live on the edge .....look at my avatar! It is equipped with a 534 gas engine, 10 speed road ranger. I added a two speed Brownie type box with a power tower to power the big ( 40,000 lbs) winch. I put a 3 speed pto off the bottom of the road ranger to power a 20,000 lbs winch for live poles. I built the truck off a truck my Dad bought to have the baddest winch truck around. Life got in the way .... I got old.... never really finished it.... bought the little Dodge...... and built a another OT conventional Ford truck with a 20, 000 lbs winch.
    Uahhh, I’ve kinda got a thing for winches.....and wenches....lol

This Ford COE with a very custom built semitrailer showed up at one of the places on Antique Row on Hwy 80 here in Forney. It sat there for a couple of years then disappeared recently. Have no more info on it... Ford COE and camper.jpg

  20. Gas Monkey guys owned that and it’s twin at one time

  21. I junked a rusty 53 3/4 ford. it had a 262 mill. My wife has the 66 chev 3/4 her daddy bought new. I have a 66 3/4 that is a factory 4 wheel drive with a divorced transfer case, A 61 chevy Viking C60 that has a torsion bar front end. A 66 ford F600 that I bought in November of 72. It has a 40,000 pound highway winch and a 20 ft bed with a 4 ft dovetail. I hauled a great amount of heavy stuff on it. Probably a 1000 vehicles have been hauled to the scrapper on it. I have gin poles on it now and its handy to lift stuff. A 57 dump truck. I swapped a 307 in place of the no good 261. pulls better and uses less fuel. The main problem I have with the bigger two ton trucks is 53 ford 250 001.JPG 60 thru 66 trucks 001.JPG 60 thru 66 trucks 026.JPG 60 thru 66 trucks 027.JPG winches 005.JPG setting & rotting 007.JPG the Hyd brakes. when they set the brake boosters go bad. and a new booster cost hundreds of dollars.

  22. What about the bus?

  23. The bus is a old international. I bought it at a estate auction at setting & rotting 008.JPG Poynor Mo. No brakes & drove it to where its setting. And pulled the 345 engine and sold it to a sawmiller who needed it for his knuckle boom loader truck.

  24. Cool. Got the hood?
    Any other parts for sale?

This is my current project. It is a 34 Dodge K47 2 ton. I am just getting ready to weld the frames together and build motor mounts for a 96 dodge 360. The sub frame is from a 76 dodge class C motor home that I narrowed. The rear axle is cut down and ready to clean up and paint. An unheated shop and this Nebraska winter has slowed the progress.

  29. Ive got a ton truck. title says 65 but its a straight axle like a 64. Rust free really good body any how its a former U Haul. I installed a 330 engine clutch and trans from a school bus. But it has weird 6 hole rims and 17,5 inch tires and the brakes are bad. So I bought a Gov surplus truck that was owned by the city. I want to install the old cab on the newer chassis. That way I get better power steering dual master cyl disk brakes and the common 16 in 8 lug wheels. and the newer frame is longer. and it has a pto. Ive got a flatbed dumpfor it. truck ytactor 016.JPG truck ytactor 017.JPG truck ytactor 005.JPG

  30. Ok heres a few more. the yellow binder. I bought at a estate auction for $240.its now running and licensed and insured. the cab of a Ad GMC its still has the 248 engine and granny 4 speed trans. Pretty solid cab so ive saved it. did sell the doors.Old binder cab. I actually drove the truck. it had a silver diamond engine. We took the engine and installed it in a Hough loader.Pilot house dodge. Bought it at the Verkler auction at black rock for $100 there where trees growing up thru the frame. The next day I went and cut the trees . got it running and drove it home. it hadn't moved in 35 years. We have a couple of the pilot house pickups. Front view of my 66 F600. The engine went bad.I was gonna pull the 330 fron the one ton and install it. But now Ive got a 390 for my 55 wagon. So I will pull the 262 six and put it in the F 600. don't need a V8 in a winch truck. a one ton Metro. I think it would run. Havent tried to start it. I want to pull the oil pan first to be certain that its not full of sludge. Old early 50,s bus. Had the big flathead Six engine. Sold the engine to a HAMB member. He drove here from Calif and picked it up.It's OT but the 67 3/4 ton was sold new in Pocahontas. I belonged to one of the best employers I ever worked for. He owned bulldozers. and the chevy hauled fuel & parts and worked hard until the guy retired. Then his son took over and used it several years. and after truck ytactor 015.JPG truck ytactor 008.JPG truck ytactor 009.JPG truck ytactor 006.JPG truck ytactor 022.JPG truck ytactor 012.JPG truck ytactor 013.JPG truck ytactor 014.JPG He quit using it. gave his brother the engine. and gave the rest to me. truck ytactor 015.JPG truck ytactor 008.JPG
