Been doing the same thing but using compact flouresant bulbs for years now.

  3. Jnaki,

Those 4' LED shop lights at Costco are SUPER bright, cheap and easy to put up (you can daisy chain them). I did my garage when they first had them (no daisy chaining at that time), then took out my mom's 2 8' tube lights and used 4 4' LED shop lights.

Headlamp for the win. No burns, no dead bulbs, no light in the eyes blindness, no garage fires. There is light wherever you look and you can't shine it in your eyes unless you really fuck up. The only real problem I have is that the headlight freaks my dog out. She snarls and runs away when I've got it on. She's kinda dumb.

I will say this, years of drop lights, flourscent tube lights, and other crap... I did some work for a buddy, he sent me this as a gift... best damn thing in my shop now. Magnet base, adjustable angle, thing will light up a room. 1500 lumens.... better than the headlamp thing also for my big head. ECUHA158O-1.jpg

Growing up in SoCal my friends and I called them "trouble lights", never heard the term drop light.
