Finishing them for paint apparently...I guess if they are in a roof you may get Sunlight which can be a health hazard cumulatively and perhaps increases wind noise. Another con may be losing aesthetic appeal due to just do many taking away from visual balance...There was a Deuce waaaaaay back that well...had too many and it looked a little ridiculous...you know the old saying Too Much of a Good Thing...;)

  22. I was considering both the hood & trunk lid, real curious if exhaust fumes or excessive dust is an issue.
I plan to run exhaust full length past rear bumper.

Your absolutely right those is are very serious things and important to consider...certain vehicles do collect dust in that area...you may have to seal the bulkhead between the trunk and cabin...even for noise let alone dust and fumes.

Excellent pic thread, Stogy and crew!
One additional benefit of louvers that I don't think was mentioned...they strengthen a panel...give it more rigidity. I can see how that would be a good thing...maybe for a home-made deck-lid on a roadster or something that doesn't have an inner panel.
Mostly though, they look pretty cool. :)
P.S. - I've finished shiny louvers. Lots of fun.

  26. The noise I like.
Carbon monoxide & excessive dust, not so much.

This '56 Chevy looks suspiciously like my bud "Halibrand Jack" Stanley's old '56, right down to the deck lid louvers and '56 CA. plate. Jack's Chevy had a 392 Chrysler Hemi and LaSalle box (!) installed in 1957, and ran the dry lakes more than a few times...car was 'gutted', made good use of the louvers. (trapped air)
