Th preregistration photos on Instagram had me thinking this was going to be quite something. Then I saw the venue.

    Whoa.

Absolutely amazing. Huge applause for those who put this together

Greg looked into the rear view mirror, the sun was rising bright in his eyes, he was heading due West to home. The buildings in town were coming out of their night slumber, along with the rest of his fellow club members. But he was on the road first hoping to ‘get out of town’ before the town realizes what had blown through these last three days.

Greg was in town just to observe, rowdy activates fun in his past were now for the younger. Grey hair brought smart brain cells to his head. Using the bench mark of the number of cases of beer consumed for the weekend, the amount of tread missing from the rear tires, and the pegging of the speedometer needle, is for young guys.

Then the girls, true Hot Rod Girls, and they took the top sped trophy. And I wonder how many of them are going home sans the ‘mirror trophies’ that hung in many a hot rod. But not his mirror, his special girl was next to him asleep in the passenger seat, right where she crashed after the awards ceremony. Still in the club coat, tank top, and leather skirt.

The telephone poles passed in the morning light. The motor rumble adding the sounds of the road, wind whistling through the window, the staccato of the expansion joints in the road, the sounds of roll-up doors announcing the opening of the shops.

Greg looked over and placed his hand on her thigh, the skin warm and smooth. She shifted and his hand moved up,,,,,,
The rest of the story later,,,,

  12. What were the registration parameters? Looks like an early Ford only show from the pics.

I preregister, jacked the '46 up, changed oil, filter, drained the radiator and put new anti-freeze in her, good for -30, checked the trans and rear end, aired the tires, did all the pre trip stuff that we do when we're going on a long trip. Got "Survival" gear packed, Boots, Snowmobile suit, gloves, Crown Royal, just incase we get stranded. My Buddy in Sioux Falls is doing the same. I'm going to pick him up Thursday morning and we are heading to the Showdown in Texas. I've been watching the Weather Channel since the day I registered. Everything north of a line from Frisco to Washington DC is getting a snow storm every other day, including Minnesota! Have Faith Ricky, you'll catch a break and all will be good, I keep telling myself. This month has been the snowiest February EVER in Mn. history. Now 35 inches of snow isn't bad when you get it 2"to 8" at a time but throw in 40 to 60 mph wind and shit happens. These three pictures are of the same tree in my yard. Needless to say we decided not to drive the Old Ford through all of the rain, sleet and snow that was predicted for Mn., SD, Ia., Ne., Ks. and northern Ok.. Darrel and I talked this morning and after looking at the pictures of this fantastic event, we decided that next year we will leave in the middle of January if we have to, but we will not miss it again!! You.......... Cochran! Ya wouldn't happen to know anything about the goins on here now, would ya? Love the story, especially the reference about the young "young" beer cans! Thanks for the yarn, pardner.
