These are as good as putting 1960 Corvette tail lights on the rear fenders of a 1940 Ford. I always wonder what you could do with 1959 Chevy tail lights.

That's it in the same post, wearing black.
Car was built in Finland in the '90's, starting with a four-door.

  17. Great pictures indeed. Say anyone know the status of the Dave Stuckey restoration?

The car has since lost the Connie Kit. Here are some more recent photos...

'Mo -- guess what I found while looking for something else. I used to play pool with a kid and we would bet a dollar or a magazine article on each game we played. he was horrible at pool. His dad had a good collection of magazines. His widow gave them all to me after he passed away. Not sure what year it appeared in Rod Action. Scan0900.jpg Scan0901.jpg Scan0902.jpg

Wow! Thanks, stanlow69. I am impressed that you even remembered it as it was.
I don't know about the rest of you, but IMO, the two-tone paint absolutely transformed this car.
    It is certainly unforgettable now!

This car was one of the first Mercs I ever saw as a youngster, at the ISCA shows. It was one of my favorites for a long time. But personally, I like the original version better now. Seems to flow better, has more of an early custom look to it. Still would like to add the Riv side trim to my car when my budget allows me too. Scan0249.jpg

For a good 55 years I've read the name Bob Hirohata and seen images of the famed
"Hirohata Merc", but knew nothing of the man. One of the Hambers posted the photo
below which I believed he said was a personal and unseen photo of Bob. I didn't want
to ruin the feel of the photo but wanted to try to clean up and replicate the original.
This is the result. I could have done more but I didn't want to go insane picking at
every little white spot. I hope the original poster sees this and understands that I wasn't
trying to steal his thunder, I just wanted to make the image a little more presentable.
