Does anyone know the purpose of this tube installed on the check valve area on the body of this Stromberg 97?

Probably as a source of fuel for a SouthWind heater. Someone did not want to drill a hole in the lid for it.

That is the correct siphon for a South Wind heater for a 97, not the fits all type that would require drilling a hole in the top of the carb. It is missing a fitting off the top of it.

Plus the upper fitting has a nice windshield in front of the bowl vent, possibly a speed secret to copy! Another thing, replace most of the vertical tube with clear tubing and you have most of a fuel levle tool.
