I already posted these earlier, I have since Learned that they are pretty rare from a 1956 Studebaker Hawk. They were in mint condition before I installed the chrome Spinners (DUH). Oh well I like them

Can't show them on a car but these are one of the best center caps ever made. Even on the right custom: download.jpg images.jpg

  5. Yeah, I remember them. Popular back in the 60's, the repops were called "Blackjacks", they didn't have the Ford on them though.

I'm going to have to agree with LBCD, the Lyons gets my vote. Preferably the 16" wheel covers.

It took me forever to get a set of 16" Lyons. They didn't come all at once either. Bought 2, then added a third and finally got the fourth. All in pretty good shape and have them on my 34 now instead of the 16" flippers that were on it before.

  11. These were posted on Instagram a while back. I would love to figure out what they are as they would go great on my truck.

I got these in a box of hub caps my grandma bought me 20 years ago at a garage sale. It's an old soup can lid screwed to the center of a Ford cap. Had some sort of 3 point star on them. The back of the caps has the old boys name, city, and phone number scratched into them! 15. Those look like the 1954-55 Chevy truck "accessory" 16" caps. The center section is different though, I wonder if someone is reproducing them?

  16. Thanks 16" and $1500 ($2000 Canadian)for a set of 4 on ebay means I will scratch them off my list. :(

@K13 $2000 is nuts! You could get a set of 50/51 Plymouth caps and mount these 72 Camaro caps in the center. The center bore opening on a camaro wheel is around 2-3/4”. This cap would just cover the Plymouth ship as it is around 2-3/4” in size. Just an idea and probably $200 all in.

    Edit: ooops these are 15”

  18. Good idea! @LBCD

I'm not sure but I imagine @K13 IS looking for 15 inch caps.

  19. Thanks for the idea @LBCD but the center cap looks a little too '70's to me. I am looking for 15" @Sancho my plan has been to run 1953-55 Stude caps. I just thought the Chevy ones looked cool when I saw them and there was mention that they might be truck caps (which you confirmed) which I thought was added cool given I am building a custom truck. Alas not to be.

No information on this one. I took the photo almost 11 years ago at the 100 Car Pileup. hubcap.jpg

I like 39 Deluxes for early cars......and newer cars I like whatever I can find for a decent price that are in good shape that I can polish and doll up to make custom or my own style.....usually early 50's buicks, caddys, or pontiacs. Early 50's Lincolns, too

I lucked out, I was trying to ID this wheel cover that I thought was kinda neat. I started going through the posts and wow, there it was a 1960 Buick. Now if I can find three more I might run those on the Stude. IMG_2207.JPG

This is an original 1957 Plymouth pointed Moon style hubcap for Plymouth vehicles with 14" steel rims. Stainless steel and in excellent condition.

    Hello,

For some reason, no one in our teenage high school group or their families had a Plymouth as a family vehicle. During this time, we were attracted to the Plymouth hardtop with its swoopy look and those pointed Moon style hubcaps. It reminded us of walking down the hall in junior high school. But, they were available to try on several of our cars with 14” rims much later.

The Hot Rod Magazine Special in Hot Rod Magazine showed the car in all of its glory. The stock car from the factory also had options to make it competitive, but the problems the Plymouth had, outweighed the production popularity of the Chevys and Fords at the time.

“The ad slogan used to describe the new Plymouth for 1957was “Suddenly it’s 1960!” Under the influence of stylist Virgil Exner, the new Plymouths were touted as being three years ahead of their time. The new look included longer, flatter hoods, a lower roofline, and most noticeably, large tail fins. Thanks to Exner’s efforts Plymouths were no longer the stodgy lumps of the past, they were clean and modern looking without excess and the positive public response was reflected in increased sales.”

The famous episodes of the Hot Rod Magazine Special created newly found fans of the Plymouth brand of cars.

Look what pops up in my early film from the 1958 episode at the entrance to Lions Dragstrip? A 1957 Chevy with 14” Plymouth Moon style hubcaps leaving the pits area, as our 1958 Chevy Impala arrives. My brother pays for both of us causing the ticket guy to look over his shoulder at me filming.

Amazing some of the hubcaps out there! Some I never even knew existed. But I still like my moons and rings.
