There was a 36 in the Late Rockerheads thread on the dry lakes that I thought may have been this one but its quarter windows were filled.

Rikster also provided another candidate but no chop so that 40 headlight mod was more common than I thought and yes the mods on that coupe are quite well done.

  6. Mark Cummins Pick Up... The grille was inspired by a deuce coupe from my neighbourhood back in the sixties. It was the local 'hot rod '. I've wanted to build this truck for over fifty years! FB_IMG_1550872006382.jpeg FB_IMG_1550871989149.jpeg

  11. I talked with Mark via FB messenger It's from Canada Stogy!!!

    Mark comment:

The first picture is from 1961 at the Toronto Speed/Sport show. The rest are a block from where I grew up.

I was seven years old when that car showed up in my neighbourhood! Not something a car crazy kid is going to forget.

Catch a good story Stogy... And I realize I don't know almost nothing about Hot Rods History in Canada!

Thanks to Mark for sharing the pictures with me and let me sharing on Hamb too!

@ratamahata that is to cool...thanks so much for connecting all these dots man...that just made Ole Friday a bit more special...

I have been to Speedsport but in the late 70s 80s that was before my time...I wonder if he might know @Jeff Norwell. Jeff knows alot of Roadmates CC members who had a clubhouse close to Toronto...

Thank Mark on mine and the rest of the Hambers behalf for sharing this iconic cool Hotrod/Custom stuff...its priceless.

Mark comment: That little Fiat had a 440 Chrysler motor in it. Went to Indianapolis in the late 60's and won his class ! It's being restored by one of the guys that built it. received_265635621018708.jpeg

@ratamahata you knocked it out of the park tonight...thanks again...

So is Mark going to keep the side panels off...and does he have any more plans on going sixties on the paint or anything?

Buy the way you should suggest that he join the Hamb. There is a number of members quite close to him in Toronto.

I live 4 hours away from Toronto now...

It is way tougher to get a low stance with parallel springs than a buggy spring. Some tricks were moving the springs outside the frame rails, reversing spring eyes, dearching the spring, removing leafs to make the package thinner, and putting the axle on top of the spring. Most of the cars that used parallel springs already had what would be a dropped axle on a Ford. Dropping them much more put the center of the axle very near the ground and eliminating any scrub line. I'm dealing with this on my roadster. It ain't easy.

That axle does look dropped and the springs definately off the side and No wishbones...pretty cool pic that is. I wonder would there be excess loads to the non boxed rails due to side mounted shackles?

Actually most of the things you mentioned look done...mind you on this one the axle is under.

Nice find, that could be fun to build.
Here ate some more pictures of parallel leaf front ends. Axles on top, springs outside and Zd farm. Most guys give up and just Fordicate their Chevys.

...If I won the Lottery...I would be driving this Hotrod...

I get a chuckle when I see this thinking about a scene where they are hopping into the rides in the driveway (Life of Riley) to take off and buddy opens the door right into the other one...they don't miss a beat and take off...that's Hollywood...:D
