    Here are my old rides...

I recently had my Plymouth for sale. No takers so I'm considering putting a 1968 318 in a 1957 plymouth with a three speed manual. Will this engine bolt right in with this transmission?
    Thanks

I would suspect it has a Poly head 318. If so, no, not direct bolt in.

Yeah... The bug is fun but not really for this forum.

The savoy currently has the original flathead 6. It was has low compression and I want a little more power. The 318 is for sale about 2hrs away.

Attached is the engine that is for sale and a couple more of Flo.

You might find a pickup truck bell and see if it accepts the car trans. Or drill new bolt holes if the snout fits. Motor mounts will be a custom made project for you.

They came with a 318 that is a close relative of the newer 318. You should be able to use one with the stock 3 speed if you have a manual trans bellhousing and flywheel. The newer 318 will fit the space but I think one motor mount is in a different location. Some adapting and fitting required but nothing too crazy as such things go. I have not done this swap, I hope someone comes along who has. But it seems doable to me.

My advice is if you decide to buy that 318 make sure you get the transmission too, the reason for that being I've heard some 318 crankshafts are not drilled for a input shaft bearing, a real problem if you try to bolt the engine up to a manual transmission. Also make sure you get the driveshaft so you will have the proper transmission yoke.
