Paint the tips of the fan. I really like full hoods on Hot Rods too, makes them looks like early Bonneville cars. Bob

Detail your fan as you feel. WWII Prop markings had a function.......Beware! If you feel the need, go fer it.

I don't run a hood, so the law requires a fan shroud and you wouldn't see much. For my money, on a prop plane it's good and necessary. On a hot rod, especially one with a full hood, it's pretty affected. Maybe you could make zoon, zoom, noises, too? JMTC. Your car, your choice. But, don't ask if it's cool. That's not cool.

  6. I have been painting the tips of fan blades on my engines for 40 years. I like to know where my fingers are not welcome..

Maybe so, but the subject has brought back memories.
My father during WWII was a naval aviation radio operator -the guy in the back seat with the radio and machine gun in the dive bomber, or torpedo planes. I built many WWII model air planes as a child, so I've always thought it looked "cool".

Almost painted the tips of the fan in the '64 Galaxie I drove years ago. The factory sticker on the shroud "CAUTION FAN" was still in place, so I left it alone.

Old threads are good on a slow day at work.

It's your car, do what you feel is right. Maybe it is a good idea.

"Just the tip" I like it. Hadnt considered it before.

I usually try to make the fan, shroud, etc disappear with black and draw attention to the engine. Mount the accessories down low as well, no chrome brackets etc. I never understood showing off a blinged out alternator.

  17. I completely agree! Some people would chrome their tires if possible! IMG_20180826_195050.jpeg IMG_20180924_193124.jpeg
