Technical Crossmember Location

    Help needed, I'm installing a Model A reman. front crossmember in my reman. 32 Ford frame rails can someone give me a measurement from the radiator bolt holes to the front of the frame rails. The slotted holes are at the front of the crossmember. Thanks in advance guys!

    Be aware that the different frame rail manufacturers trim their frame rails differently. So in comparison to original rails, I think the ASC are the closest, and some others trim the ends weird.

    I'd probably work from body mount holes.

    My chassis is stored in a position that is not measured easily, but see if these numbers make sense. It was also built with ASC rails and an aftermarket "A" crossmember.
    It measures exactly 13 inches with the tape straight to end (not rolled over the arc of the rail) to radiator mounting hole centerline. My chassis was built as a plus one inch wheelbase, meaning the crossmember was moved ahead one inch, stock w.b. is 106".
    On my Wescott schematic the stacked up numbers add up to 13.812, within 3/16" of mine, taking into consideration the additional one inch in wheelbase which is established by the radiator/spring crossmember.
    The Wescott schematic shows the spreader bar holes at 11/16" from the end of the frame rail, mine measures 1/2" as best as I can tell, that difference is also 3/16" but can't really conclude anything by that.

    I put my crossmember 5/8" forward because of the rake, the caster and the dropped axle. All try to move the front wheels to the rear. I think the car looks more aggressive/racey with the wheels in the stock location rather than back because of the stuff mentioned.

    I bought my frame rails from Anderson on here 9 years ago, don't know who made them. Thanks a lot for all the input, I will use it all to get it done.

    The Pete & Jakes measurements worked out well, now I've got to mount the front suspension. Where to find the old style shackles. I'm building a traditional style tudor and want it to fit the 50's era.

    I found the shackles online at "Mikes" model A parts.
