I am 98% done with my 41 Plymouth. I started this build about 8 years ago with the intent to build a traditional looking hot rod that had just enough modern touches that I could drive it on long trips. I tried to keep as many of the original features as possible while adding a couple of mild custom touches to make it look better. Here are some of the features.
    • Dodge 360 small block engine - carbureted
    • Dodge AX-15 transmission
    • Dodge Dakota rear axle
    • Manual steering
    • Custom instrument panel inset into original box
    • Modified original steering column with 41 Plymouth steering wheel and horn ring
    • Hidden sound system (except for the speakers)
    • Traditional pleated interior with finished trunk
    • 40 DeSoto front bumper with custom filler panels
    • Mostly traditional engine compartment with minimal brightwork IMG_2129.JPG IMG_2130.JPG IMG_2131.JPG IMG_2132.JPG IMG_2133.JPG IMG_2134.JPG IMG_2135.JPG IMG_2136.JPG IMG_2137.JPG IMG_2138.JPG

Danny, I am going to take it down to Rock Hill and show it to Buster Henderson as soon as the weather gets nice. He was my inspiration for getting into building Hot Rods. Back when I lived there, I used to stop by his shop all the time plus he helped me out with some fabrication occasionally.

Cool car!!!!!!!! What are the two knobs up on the centre of the dash. I presume one is for the wipers.
Just curious. Enjoy the hell out of it.

Very well done. Elegant and aggressive at the same time. Beautiful colour combo and a Mopar in a Mopar. Is that front bumper stock? It looks very cool. One teeny item I would change but it's not mine. Enjoy the ride and don't get lockjaw smiling too much!

  14. WOW! That’s a nice job. Looks great from every angle. Makes me wish I could get started back on my 48 HEMI PLYMIE biz coupe project.

40 Desoto front bumper. Looks a lot better than 41 Plymouth bumper.

They are never finished. I have to reposition the rear spring perches, sort out an electrical bug, paint the exhaust, just minor things.

  20. Wow, your car came out really great, congrats!

Man you are killing me - my 1st car while I was still in high school was a '41 Special Deluxe coupe with the jump seats in the back - we restored it and finished it about 3-4 years later - about the same color as yours - dated my future wife in it - broke my heart when we sold it - I couldn't afford the buy my dad out since I was getting married. I found it again about 3 years later but with babies still couldn't afford to buy it back - yours looks amazing - thanks for sharing.
