Hey guys, Wanting to find the owner or at least fabricator on this F1. I’m assuming it’s a 2” chop due to the fact the roof wasn’t cut into multiple pieces and reworked. Any cons to that? I want to chop at least 3” on mine and I’m not sure what kind of work I’m gonna get myself into... thoughts???
Looks kinda like the posts are slightly leaned back. Also looks like more than 2" to me. Mine was 3"and it took me forever (I'm a self-taught hack) to get it this far (avatar).
Mine is chopped 3 inch and I found that's the most you can go without cutting up the roof into bits,as you mentioned, even at 3 inch I had to put relief cuts in the windscreen corners top and bottom.its a easy chop, I like your truck and mine is in my shop now getting redone with a section, channel and some lowering like yours
I bought one of these when I was a kid. Chopped top with a Chevy V-8 drivetrain. I did not even know had all that work done on it, it was original paint with spot primer, I didn't have a stock one to compare it to. It was sitting on the side of the road, n front of the guy's house, with a for sale sign in the back window. I got it because I wanted a pickup and I treated it like a pick-up. I was not until I sold it a few weeks later to a guy who really wanted it and knew what it was and how much work was done to it. He paid three times what I paid for it. I did however sand it down and added a coat of "hot rod" primer to the whole body. Sorry for the flashback....I don't know anything about yours.
Here’s some of mine past and present. I’d like to do 3” in addition remove some crown from the top. We shall see.
4" chop on my F series cab. About a 2" wide filler piece. No need to quarter the roof. The one you posted looks to have had the A pillars leaned back... Torchie
I've Been around a few of those over the years and would say that around 2 inches is about all you want go if you aren't going to cut and spread the top. From leanin the posts on my Chevy I can pretty well guarentee that leaning the posts and reworking the door post, window frame around the front of the door and the inner trim is a lot harder and will take a lot more time and work than stretching the top Plus on a Ford F-1 you loose part of that F-1 persona when you slant the posts.

I know I will be crucified for the wheels but I just wanted to show you what a 2 3/4" chop looked like on a '51. Delete if necessary
For reference here is my 49 COE with 4 inch chop, all pillar angles are stock. I quartered the roof, needed about 2 inches in length, and 1 inch width added to the roof. By maintaining the stock angles, it allows the window channel to remain in the door, even used the stock size side glass, just not rolled up as far. Left the rear window stock size, taking 2 inches above and below. No issues with front window fitting, except for cut down size. Biggest hassle was keeping the wing windows and modifying those so they operate as intended. New glass needed for them with the new shape and size of course.
Thanks, but the truck has been done for many years now. I think the chop was done around 2006? I prefer stock angles, not leaned back windshield on trucks.
