  2. I've searching quite hard for info on this engine but google has not been helpful in the least. Google has really been terrible lately. I've even used their image search and I get results for Pakistan. WTF!!!

The first photo looks like Duane Carter in a big car that I don't recognize.

And I'm guessing that the second photo is a early 1920s photo from Ascot.

The last photo looks like it might be a young Jim Rathmann in the Bromme dirt car. Is that right?

    Thanks, Rootie.

Though they looked a lot alike, I believe that is Les Anderson at Aurora Speedway, Seattle, probably around 1940.
The 2nd shot is at Banning Ca. (east of L.A.) late 20s early 30s
You're right that is Rathmann at Syracuse 1952, I believe.

just read about this in "old cars weekly." during the war, people donated their bumpers to scrap drives and used wooden ones. popularized by movie stars; imagine seeing clark gable tooling around town in his doozy with "railroad tie" bumpers!

when mom saw the '59 olds in the showroom, she asked the salesman if that was all the chrome that was left over from the '58s!
