I am from Tyler, TX. Asking for a little help folks. In the 50's I had a 1932 5 window with 1949 Merc engine (cam, heads, 3 Strombergs. I went to a small drag strip in Winnsboro, TX to race. There was a fellow there with the first "slingshot" dragster I had ever seen. It was purple. I think he was from Longview, TX. I cannot remember his name, hoped some on out there would know who he was. Seemslike he went on to become a big name in racing. Thought I would never forget who he was. Will be 82 in April this year so memory not the same as it used to be. He beat me nearly a car length, so I thought I was doing pretty good.

  2. First time I saw this picture, I didn't notice, they all have ice cream, except the little guy on their left, (our right) he looks like he's crying. He either dropped his, or he's the red headed stepchild, and they didn't buy him one. Poor little guy.

First of all, that has nothing to do with the colorizing.
Second, those letters are not supposed to be on the car. They were edited onto the photo to identify the subjects.

YUP. When I got my license in 1963 a really nice stock 50, 51, 52, 53 Chevy was an unreachable (for a 16yr old) $200.00
Really nice meant all the windows and doors didn't rattle and the headliner was still attached.

Bad Photoshop job. The lettering above the trim looks legit. The lettering below the trim is all wrong, at the wrong angle, doesn't follow the curve of the body, and the "& Brother Billy" part should mostly be in shadow.

It is a staged shot. It's from a '70s magazine shoot for a story about cruising Van Nuys Blvd.
