Ok so I have purchased this 38/39 ford panel truck a few years ago from a fellow HAMB member, he allowed me to keep it their a while as I collected parts for build. Now I have had the idea in my head for about 8 years now to build a panel truck with a 38 deluxe front, I have always seen pickups done with 38/39 fronts , but never a panel truck. I was also lucky enough to find a guy with a 38 deluxe parts car , a member of the fordbarn, and he had most of the parts I needed. Now with most of the parts collected I’m shipping it from PA to the uk , and it should be here the start of February I hope. Then I can finally start my build. 5E3FA49B-01D4-4450-AF39-0D08EAD22606.jpeg 79E0F2FA-2642-49E3-84EE-4C3E279D7997.jpeg

When I purchased the Truck I was told it was a older hot rod build , so has a 4” dropped front axle , spilt wish bone , Chevy rearend and set up for a sbc.
All things Chevy will be being replaced with a ford 9” rear and a 347 stroker ... keep everything ford.

Some of the 38 deluxe parts I have managed to buy while searching, I do have all the chrome trim to , and that was the most difficult parts to find. What’s the best product for me to use to repair the cracks in the steering wheel please ? As I will be doing as much as the work as I can by myself , it will be a learning curve but I will feel so much more pride doing it all my self.

Stripped out the interior and wooden bed as slight amount of rott. Was great that the 4 metal bed strips were still their.
All the wood below the boards was very solid and the chassis is amazingly clean.

The chassis needs absolutely no repairs and was originally someone hot rod build , so Chevy 10 bolt rear , 4” dropped front and split wishbones

I know it’s along way off but I had to see what the 38 hood looked like

Grill is a 38 deluxe , not a 39 standard as you say , the 39 standard grill has horizontal chrome whiskers running across it. Both parts came from a original 38 ford deluxe , along with the hood and hood sides. Also the grill pan is different on mine then to 39 standard and so is hood mechanism.

That is a 39 standard as you are referring to , notice the 6 chrome whiskers , rather the the two vertical chrome strips either side ( like mine ) also if you look at the large chrome center section on the 39 standard compared to mine you will see again that it is different. I spent along time collecting parts and learning the difference and details between the two vehicles.

That's better, classy. Subscribed. Remember, don't throw all the OEM front sheet metal away not that I don't like the old beer barrel front end.

  21. Yeah, that's gonna be way cool. I like it.
