From 67 to 1970, this was my daily driver in Hawaii. 1965 Sunbeam Tiger. Of course, I shaved the emblems and side spears and added a fiberglass ( homemade ) hood

This was taken at Road America in 1972. It's a real deal MK IV that was a road car
owned by a fellow from (I believe) Elmwood Park, Illinois whose name escapes me
    at the moment.

LB when I see the picture above I guess the term that first comes to mind is "pure badass".

It looks like it was in the UK and impressing the locals. :)

I agree but the flag gives it the right touch IMO. I am not sure the Brits were as enthusiastic about our powerplants for road racing at the time as the yanks may have been. AC Bristol bodies were one thing with a big lump as they may refer to it-but the Daytona Coupe may have been another animal to them. They had the XKE which was a great looking car in its own right but not sure about the performance (and I have worked on a few) when compared to the great sounding and extremely impressive performing Ford Daytona Coupe. Hard to dislike the car no matter where you were born IMO though.

With Turex (on the VW Kombi in the background) being a Danish company I would think it is more likely mainland Europe. Maybe the 500 km race at Spa in 1965 where Bob Bondurant finished 5th in the #20. That would make the other car the #21 driven by John Whitmore (who was a DNF).

Hey Quick 85 a pretty famous Vette behind King Cobra. It is the Ko-Motion/Astoria Charles 67 that ran an L88 on the drag strip but the owner put it aside to serve in Vietnam but was killed in action. Car survives to this day.

Loudbang with the body work you would think it is a sports car but it was actually an Indy car. Might of worked well on a road course who knows. Great pics LB.

Jim, that shot was taken at the Muscle Car Nationals in Rosemont, Illinois in 2010. There was also a nice line-up of Motion Performance 'Vettes. Since they're '68 and up I haven't attempted to post the photos.

Considering all the BS the speedway and USAC gave Howard Keck and Sumar about their streamliners, I'm surprised the Thompson cars were allowed.

" Didn't last long " - If the driver of the 83 is who I think he is, neither did the car or driver.

I believe that the 83 Sears Allstate Special is the car that Dave MacDonald lost his life in (the accident also killing Eddie Sachs) in the 1964 Indy 500.

  27. That would be a cool combo but sadly would go over like a turd in the punch bowl on this site. Although the p1800 did come out in 1961 and you did say HEMI.! so maybe I'm wrong!
