I have a small lock (I believe) with block numbers 3970010 near the bell housing and in the front behind the alternator V0210TKS and just below that number is 73514142. Can anyone please help me?
As said before it is a very common small block. Your stamping numbers may be off though. V0210TKS is an engine from Flint made February 10th, TKS is a van, bus or truck cab. 73514142 may be 18S14142 which would be a 1978 Chevy from St Louis. So, probably a truck or van engine. Nothing special, but if it is rebuildable, still very much usable.
Mine went into a vette after it came out of a impala So it is now a vette engine Sent from my iPhone using H.A.M.B.
Saw a Craigslist ad one time for a Corvette that they said the engine came out of a school bus! Don’t think I’d told that even if I knew it to be true!
There is a character missing, there should be 3 such as 18S then 6 numbers.... those first three tell you what it is. First digit 1=Chevy truck, C=Chevy car, T=GMC truck, 2=Pontiac, etc. Second digit is the last digit of the year, and we know it's from 74-79 from other clues 3rd digit is the vehicle assembly plant, there are several possibilities
