I think it's time to do an update. So first things first, I decided to move the car to my new place from my parents so that I can try and finish the car for a certain date. In her new home! So the original light switch was not working very well, so I made up my own! Works every time now without any problems! Also picked up a set of upholstered seats off kijiji. Couldn't pass them up the price was so good haha. Next up I installed a front bumper and horn. It also received new inner and outer bearings in the front wheels. I'm also going to have to replace the rear bearings. I'd like to get the top installed soon so I applied some filler to smooth out any dents in the top. And that's all for now.
Very nice Tudor, I am looking for one in the same shape for my wife. Are you keeping the 21 inch wheels? When I put 35 wires on mine with big and littles it drastically changed the look of the car not to mention made it feel better while driving.
For right now the 21's will stay but eventually I want to put 35 wires on because when I pulled it out of the shed it had 16" wheels on it. I feel like the smaller rims with more rubber will also help give it more of a hot rod look as well!
This thread brings back good memories of my 1st Model A tudor sedan (same condition, same colour and you guessed it...from Manitoba) "stock" restoration. Starting out, it was all I could afford with a young family and mortgage. Subscribed!
Because as you'll see on many hamb threads photo bucket has decided to charge for there service to the tune of $400 a year in some cases; if you'd like to keep your existing linked photos viewable. So get ready for a whole lot of photos in a whole lot of threads to be gone
I have been working on the car just haven't updated the thread. I'll post some new pictures and see if I can't get the old ones working again soon.
All right so it's been a long time since I have posted anything. Figured I would throw some pictures up as they are long over due. Gotta give a shout out to my uncle Rob for coming over and lending a hand with the top. It took us awhile and by the time we finished it was already cooling off outside ( partly due to the fact we had never done this before and a gentleman from the neigborhood saw us working and had to come over and talk non stop for what seemed like forever) which made a big difference in trying to stretch the fabric. It was much easier making sure there weren't any wrinkles in the fabric when it was hot outside. But we managed to finish and i think it came out not to bad!
Looks great! So it tacks to the wooden header and then that metal cap goes over it above the visor? And you’ve covered the side seam with that strip to hide seams- seems there a few different slang names for it- seems I see above half done that way and half with drip rails. Been thinking about doing mine lately this the questions Edit: new wheels and tires look great!
I have had several with hide-em seam, and those with gutters, I prefer the hide-em seam. but hate to discard the gutters. If you don't have gutter assembly, hide-em is the way to go ...
the gutters just don't seem to "flow " with the rest of the car, They Kinda "hang " out. they are a two part system, difficult to take off to paint, then put back on, for me at least. I have seen very few, on HotRods, or even Stockers, that look like they belong on the car. Just for giggles, on E-Bay, there is a $40,000 restored '29 Ford Tudor. Do a "close up" of the gutter above the door.. not too good.
Hmm I’ll have to investigator further. I don’t have the drip rails but I tend to like them for functionality reasons
Yes, Fabric is tacked to the wood in the car. And as Verde742 mentioned you can use hide-em seam. When I did the top I had a set of original rain gutters so I used them but I was missing the pieces for above the windshield and at the back. I should have bought hide-em seam for those two areas instead of getting an original style trim. They came as straight pieces so trying to get them bent with the proper curves was difficult. I ended up with some kinks in those. Oh well, I'll know better next time now haha.
Yes they do, thanks for posting. I got one to do and I've been trying to figure out what would be the easiest and yet look good. I bought my top kit from Mikes A fordable parts.
Ahhhhh...Thats what i was waiting for. Glad to see the top material go on. I like when these go back together with new wood, & all the other little pieces that keep it looking original, but make them more fun to drive
