55-59 chevy truck accessory, 987493 Utility Tray

I'm planning on building one of these utility trays for my 56 chevy 3204.
So I wonder if anyone have pictures of this accessory either mounted in a truck or lying on the ground.

Maybe someone even have the dimensions of the tray.

I have to say that I have never seen a tray like this before! I wonder how many were actually used?

 

never seen one, but it couldnt be too hard to make

 

Have an NOS one never installed. Can photo and measure if you need.

That is a pretty rare accessory. I've never seen one installed in a truck but a few years ago someone had a NOS one up on that auction site. I can't remember how much they wanted but if I recall, it was ridiculous money.

I've been looking for one of those for my wife's 57 3100.
I ended up getting one from a Ford pickup.
close but it looks shorter/narrower than the drawing in the manual.

 

It would be great if you could.

 

Did anyone ever get the specs on this utility tray? I am thinking of trying to get one or build one for my 55 type 2

Here's a NOS one for $1,100.00. I like the repop price better even though the OEM box is cool.

 

...just about anyone could fab one of those for a few bucks...

 

I saw that in some truck literature a long time ago. Always thought it was neat. Then I saw someone built a similar item that also enclosed the gas tank - I believe out of wood and covered with carpet. Looked nice and finished off that area very well. I hadn’t seen any actual pictures so this is cool to see.
