Sad to hear about Chewy, you can always put his name on the car when you finish it.

Your hair seems to be getting more gray as the pictures progress!...( I told my wife they were " highlights " when they were growing in!) ....your signature is " from behind the stone pony" ...are you in Bruce Springsteen's back yard?..with patience and tenacity I think you can fix the body damage and I feel for you on the loss of your buddy, I've lost a few over the years and my dogs are like family to me....

Ran into some trouble getting the doors off,---- Had to heat & drill about 1/2 of the pins-- - didnt want to over heat them with the torches, so i used Mapp gas. After a couple weeks of soaking with penetrating oil & working them finally got it- 311.JPG 375.JPG 377.JPG 374.JPG 389.JPG 373.JPG 382.JPG 380.JPG on this last pic. in between the belt molding body lines -you can kinda see the crease in the 1/4 from that beam about 6 inches long-

I like the top pic of the plate and light. Looks natural just above the bottom edge like that.

    Probably fixed by now...
but for any other rodders with a similar problem get a screw type bottle jack from under the hood in a '70s ford truck... shorten the handle to about a foot long...
set up a "bolt on" larger base pad, [use if needed], and weld a short tube vertically to the T shaped top pad...
weld a short piece of the same size tube to about a 3" x 5" plate to set / duct tape the plate to roof blocks on.
get some tube that will slide inside or outside the piece you welded...
cut an assorted bunch of different lengths of that size tube...
    this is now a poor man's porta-power...
use the length needed to hold the roof up while you tap around the edges... HIH...

Time to move home -for much needed space
Used the wheels off my car lift which clamped nice to the cart -BUT where way to sensitive -- if you breathed it would take off rolling - eventually changed out to car 2 car dollies for more control 010.JPG 011.JPG 012.JPG 013.JPG 017.JPG 019.JPG 021.JPG 022.JPG 001.JPG 023.JPG 024.JPG 028.JPG

Even with the frame horns broke from the barn beam & frame twisted - a guy offered 1250 for the drive train. The motor and tranny looked great- dipstip looked like honey clean oil and was free moving since 1951 Amazing... 011.JPG . He was to take it to key west from there to Puerto Rico -- to make a bus like cart to taxi people around with a wooden body he told me-- nice lil chunk to ease the shipping of 1100.00 to get this thing home.

Hi, I enjoyed reading your post. I am also building a Model A coupe. Getting ready to chop her 5 inches. She's riding on a pinched 32 frame from Brookville. Running a 325hp 350, turbo 350 to a nine inch Ford rear end with 3:50 gears. Good luck on your build, looks good. m.ralph

20 years ago when we chopped a coupe 5" it let us remove the w/s post to the bottom of the top hinge...
    [86ed the hinge]...
also didn't need to split the tapered w/s posts and the w/s garnish were easy to chop and fit...
much less work than a 4" chop... TAKE 5 !

  30. Looks like a cool project. I lost my garage buddy in early January. Feel your loss. Not a day goes by that I don’t miss her. Keep on keeping on!
