Folks Of Interest Meeting Jake at GNRS

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Greg Stokes, Jan 31, 2019.

  1. This is the big wow moment! Forever inspired by Jim “Jake” Jacobs cars, work and ethic. Finally met the man at GNRS and we talked “banger” engines and Model A pickups. His cars inspired mine and he saw a picture of mine years ago and wanted to build one like it. As we parted after an awesome catch up he said “I like your workmanship!” - I coulda fainted! Thanks Jake!

The pick up of mine which was inspired by Jake but then inspired him - where is this car now?

I met Jake at Starbirds museum about 20 years ago. What a story teller! Just the stories about working for Roth were worth the price of admission!!! Great guy....

Well Greg - I'm envious to say the least.
Hopefully, meeting Jake will be in my future as well.

  15. I met Pete & Jake, Jim Ewing and Norman Grabowski at the NSRA Nat's South in Winstpn Salem, North Carolina in 1977, hard to believe that was 42 years ago and Pete,Jim & Norm have left the building.

Jake's truck inspired me also. HRP

I guess that it was twenty plus years ago when I met Jake at Starbird's museum. What a great guy. It is kool to be able to meet the guys that we look up to and they end up being just like a regular car guy. Kool that you took advantage of the situation to visit with him. thanks for sharing....

Met Jake for the first time at the only annual NHRA Nationals in Denver. Went out to dinner and drinks and he kept trying to line me up with some old snag that was in the bar. He was having a ball, me not so much. I've met him several times since and he was always a hoot to talk to. One of my heroes since the 70's.
