Mmmm...OLD parts...Can any of you history buffs date any of this stuff for instance the column drop?

  7. The column drop looks like a 50's or early 60's aftermarket item. Moon and many other dealers offered them.

They have made those column drops continually since the 50's. I don't think they ever stopped making them.

Charlie - the original VIN on car must have been lost/ground down. There is a "TX" VIN on the '32 frame rails and this plate was on the body...

If you look on the top of driver side rail in the center and by the kick up basically on top of axle it close to crossmember you may find orig 32 serial number there still

Be VERY CAREFUL how you handle those vin plates especially when coming from another state!! MOST states and the feds are VERY particular about the plates and how they are attached. An incorrect attachment even down to exact location and type of attachment method (like pop rivets that are not state used) can result in BIG HEADACHES.

Looks like that vin will HAVE to be the one used for title and new reg.

IF you ever decide to go with a new frame check with MVD FIRST before moving that vin and see what they recommend.

Looks like you're back on track. Cleaning, sorting, parts inventory are all going to be helpful in the next step of the build. Are you excited yet?! I'm pretty sure the rest of us are, Carp.

Well that has to be a lot cheaper than an upholstery job.
I have followed this thread from the start, it is a great read.

Like I said, they would clean up with a little elbow grease and cleaner, now you have a little more left in the budget for the rest of the project! ;):D

  21. Sweet deal on all fronts. Those soft goods are cleaning up nicely. Has to feel good reviving them yourself too!

That’s funny and probably true. A friend of mine/shade tree mechanic got the engine running about 10-12 years ago, swapped the transmission, intake manifold, carb, and I think the coil. He also changed out the shifter to a Hurst to go with tranny. I still have the original shifter. It used to have a black plastic/rubber ball on top. Don’t know where that went. Everything else should be ‘old’.

Even more so is the idea that you could see it finished and sitting next to tweety at the round up some day. Might have to park your roadster next to them ;)

If everything works out with Rexrods I would be honored if Tweety would allow me to park next to him at the show. Unfortunately, i doubt we could get the car ready by the Roundup, and even if we could, I’ll be on a cruise during those dates! (I booked it before I ever heard of H.A.M.B. or Lone Star Roundup).
