HAHA... I will go back to that show eventually.

However, I'm thinking about hitting less formal gatherings... You know, a few guys that meet for breakfast every third Thursday or hit the bollowing alley every other saturday... that kind of thing.

  4. I knew that's what you were shooting for, just wanted to rib you some and make sure that you know you are always welcome.:)

    Hi Ryan,
The lads north of the border here had a shop party just last Friday evening at my place. A few refreshments, a couple pizzas, streaming Atomic Hot Rods' ''A Sweet Sickness'' flathead video on the projector screen and a lot of laughs.
After a few pops, the lads even had a go at punching some louvers on the newly restored Pullmax.

Consider yourself invited , we'd love to have you at the next one but we would understand if the whole Maryland thing mentioned above would impede your getting through the northern border wall! Ha!

Hope to see you in Austin in April!

Sunday morning breakfast with the league of extraordinary geezers I roll with in South Florida. We meet every Sunday morning for coffee and doughnuts and it's one get together I rarely miss.

'Every body' knows So Cal on Saturday morning is Donut Derelicts run,,,
But for us it is the old Stater Bros parking lot in Mentone. A great bunch of guys and gals with a great spread of vehicles, from beater model A with blown flatheads to restored 69 Mustang King of the Roads to stockers usually around 20 vehicles.
And the yearly event is the Packing House Church Fourth of July show, Yes a church that has ties to classic vehicles, they have a blown hemi on a stand in the men's room.

  10. Come on out and go a hundred miles with us. There are several Hot Rod Hundred Reliability Runs across the midwest, the DFW run will be sometime in the fall, no date yet. SW Missouri run will be Easter weekend. We just wanted to drive backroads and grab a meal. It's a pretty fun deal.

You could spend a couple weeks in Motown. Always something somewhere, and I don't mean the typical cruise night. Sadly I miss a lot of it but I've been known to be a usual suspect now and then. I'll keep an ear to the tracks...;)

QUOTE "That got me thinking… I’ve got pretty massive technology burnout at the moment. I sit behind a computer too damned much and deal with digital representations of people far more often that I would like. I need to get out this spring and take some time away from technology and media and… I need a break.

And then my wife suggested that I get out on the road and do what I enjoy the most with old cars – photograph them. "

I'm in the "sunset of life" and kinda feel that I wasted most of it in car & truck garages... I gave up trying to find somebody around here to cruise around with. (everyone is "too busy"... like I always was)

So I then realized that I get far more from using the 32 as a daily driver... because then, I got away from "only car people" and now meet thousands of "every type of people from all over the world". Yes, I like to photograph old cars, but I get so much more out of using their phones to photo them having huge smiles with my car.

    I guess I'm experiencing life...finally..

I always say next year to the big events as I slowly knock those off of my list of events to go to. Pebble Beach, check, Barrett Jackson, yup, many times, etc...I still have more fun at local runs and at a heckuva lot more bang for my buck.

  20. We do a car-guy breakfast with friends every 1st Saturday of the month. It's a great way to stay up on everyone's projects, tell stores and laugh a little. When I was a kid, my dad and I would meet with local hot rodders every Saturday at 7:00am... for the same reasons. The highlight was always when one of the guys would get their car going for the first time and drive it out to breakfast. Definitely at the root of hot rodding...

  21. The Road Pilots in Concord, NC do the same thing on the same day each month (first Saturday). Several other clubs have members that make appearances, and there's always a "lone wolf" or two that show up. Very family oriented!! Starting in March/April there's more guys/girls in old cars/trucks. Contact @Flat-Foot , @Hurley50 , or @MayDay for more info...

And a really cool small car show that would be right up your alley is the Old North State Invitational that @MayDay and @Hurley50 put on in Kernersville, NC! This one would be well worth your time and travels! (Did I mention the invitation-only afterpaaaarty?!?!)

  24. I have to agree. The Old North State Invitational is a must. And I'm not just saying that because I have something to do with it. Wait. No. I am. But still, it's a great time with great people. Cars are ok too. We can set you up with a great place to camp out for the weekend.

  25. We meet at Dicks Hamburgers in downtown Spokane WA on various Friday and Saturday nights during good weather. Dicks was built in 63 I believe, and really has not changed since. It’s a burger stand and a good backdrop. It’s really loose, usually guys show up and hang out for a few hours.

Most of these photos are by Zach Isaacson

  26. That's one of my favorite things to do.{ The Garage tour } Ryan, or anyone else for that matter. Just send me a PM. If or when you're going to be in the Shenandoah valley of Va. area. We can do a cruise and garage tour. I'll just need to give everyone a heads up. We sometimes do this. We'll meet at a restaurant, and then go to each other's garages. It's fun to check each others progress on their projects. We'll tell some old stories. (lies). Or give our opinions on how we would have done stuff differently. LOl It makes for a fun day.:) Ron.... 20181220_180023.jpeg 20181220_124459.jpeg 20181220_124234.jpeg 20181220_123215.jpeg 20181203_150911.jpeg 20181220_123612.jpeg 20181101_122810.jpeg 20180227_103735.jpeg 20181220_123156.jpeg

Almost every Saturday night my friends all meet up in the garage around 8 or 9. We'll get something done on someones car for a few hours then at 11 we listen to blues after hours on the radio and have a few beers, usually wrap it up around 2 am or so. 20180701_012722.jpg

I live in this huge house on a 40 acre farm on a gravel road out in the country. Middle of the "thumb" of Michigan, about 70 miles north of Detroit. Lotsa room. Nobody to bother us. A pond. Horses. Pet deer. A big indoor pool, sauna, steam room, hot tub, weight room. Extra bedrooms.
Would enjoy having a Hamb sleep-over. I'll cook.
Then do it again next year. And the year after that...
    We'll see.
    Anybody like the idea?
