    Off to the body shop.
Because the car was previously a roundy-round dirt track racer,
    it had been rolled twice.
Because my wife runs a Friday Night Gathering, this body shop did the job for $35@hr.
Great advertising for them, great body work for me.
The shop is only 3 miles away so I was there daily.
They got the roof straight via metal shaping rather than bondo, nice work!
Used 1/2" round tubing on the rear wheel wells.
Had lots of parts powder coated, here's a few shots for starters...more to come. Rear wheel wells.jpg roof bondo.jpg Fitting SS trim.jpg Fitting grill.jpg Body straight.jpg Firewall painted.jpg Trunk hinges.jpg Trunk painted.jpg Painting trim.jpg Exhaust coated.jpg

In the last shot above the carbs were too high so I removed an unnecessary adapter.
    I can see better now.
What I didn't say was that I had the body and dash SS trim stored in my closet for many, many years.
Happy to see it finally on the car.
While at the body shop I had all new glass made and installed with new rubber seals, windows roll up and down now. Had the headers coated, the entire exhaust system coated, including hangers.
    Trunk hinges coated, etc.
Thanks for the"likes" fellas; more tomorrow, Carbs too high.jpg Carbs too high 4.jpg Carbs too high 3.jpg Coupe at Corkys.jpg

Well thanks much 427 sleeper! Much appreciated.
The pictures make it seem like it was built overnight but it took a long time.
When I first got it you had to squint to see a Willys Gasser there but building it
    was a kick.
    Have fun with yours,
    Mick

"If it don't go, chrome it."
Had some parts chromed, "dolled up" the front end.

The first door panels I had were given to me off another Willys coupe.
Later I had a local upholstery shop make them smaller for $75.
Also installed 33 Ford door pulls, convenient. Door panels for MFB2.jpg Doors pulls.jpg New Door Panels.jpg

    Meant to be!
My Dad spotted a 41 Willys coupe across the street in their wedding pictures.
November 18, 1945 right after he got out of the war, attached.

I have to give a lot of credit to my wife Elaine on this build, tremendous help.
She does tune up, brakes, amazing. Always there installing engines, transmissions, rear ends
with me, I sure am fortunate!

50 years? Incredible. Hope you never sell it.
I drew up this 1930 pickup while in the Nam war, sent pictures home to the folks
and built it in March of 1969, maybe I'll do a short build thread on it in March.
Still driving it, now Blown but always had a 4-speed.
Same fabricator "Choke" built a cage for it and some cross members in the early 80s.
Here's a shot of it in 69, then in 72, Hot rod in 1969.jpg Hot Rod in the early years.jpg

Very cool! Dad originally bought it in about '69 and sold it in late 70's. I found it, and got it back in '98. Used to play with my Hot Wheels in the back seat.

OK, you asked for it, I've got plenty.
Drove over to a new neighbor's house a few years ago, he's got a steel 41 coupe too.

You had a steel 41 in High School???
Lucky you! I had to wait until my late 40s. Grilles.jpg Hoods557.jpg
I'm looking forward to summer to break out the "grilles and hoods..."
attached. This was at my friend's house, the late Wayne Baker,

We were testing out a variety of local chrome shops plating the three grilles.

The guy I bought it from didn't want it, he had purchased it for the 413 Mopar wedge engine that was in it for his race boat. He sold the body to me for $100. I couldn't pay him fast enough. I was playing "Gofer" for a guy and his wife that were running an A/F front engine dragster and he sold a lot his left over 392 Hemi parts to me when he switched to a 426 Hemi setup. I put together, I believe it was, a 462 cubic inch with a.30 overbore and 5/8ths stroker crank. Built my own version of a tunnel ram for the Milodon heads over the next couple of years but never got it completed. My girlfriend and I spent many hours sanding off the 5 different paintjobs. That same girlfriend has been my wife for the last 45 years and she still digs all my old hot rods. We sold the Hemi back in 1976 to another boat racer and then sold the body at a Street Rod swap meet in 1977 after our third child was born. Where are you gonna put three kids in a 41 Willys coupe? If you want to get rid of yours let me know.

The yellow '41.......that's the replacement for the one stolen (inc truck and trailer) I believe. The VA license plate and the shot with the owner gave it away. Short version, he ran with us @ the NHRA Reunion..maybe 5 years ago?......seemed like he had a good time. Going home after the event, the whole works was stolen, I think from the hotel where he and his wife were staying. I believe the truck and trailer were later recovered sitting on the shoulder of the highway. The car so far as I know has never been located. This car was a stocker, never touched, and the original was then "duplicated". Maybe a year from start to finish?

Yours is waaaaayyyyyyy too pretty to drive...needs to be in the living room of your house.
