  1. They had a photo of the finished car and Hal at the service. I think this is the car back in the day.

Sorry to hear about your friend, seems that he was a somewhat humble soul with some great talent. I know about the Daddy Warbucks Falcons, where did this car fit in? I may have an article about it somewhere.

Aha, I've seen that car! I'll check the library and let you know if I find more, Carp.

I once owned the physical remains on I’d 39 dodge cppoupe. Awesome cars, very unique. I wish there had been more to the one I had. Good luck

Found Phil's Falcon (referred to as the Frog because it pulled the wheels even on dry hops), the one before the orange Daddy Warbucks version. Have to dig a little deeper, I guess. Will post some pics later, Carp.

  12. Yes it is. He's wanting to run a car this year with SEG. Last season he was all busted up from a vintage motorcycle crash most of the year.

You know I meant to ask him if they really make shine on that show or just boil water. If its illegal and all - how are they filming it ? But then again racing on the street is illegal too .....

Come on man! Virginia isn't that far is it?

I've been to the spot in Oklahoma that they race on the street. Trust me. They have permission from local authorities and nobody is getting arrested. Not sure about the liquor but I am guessing the same thing.

  15. The car Hal had and the one in the period photo are not the same. The car Hal had was the second car Phil received and was originally white with an automatic trans. Phil drove it very little and it normally was driven by Gene Wilson. Gene ended up buying the car from Phil and it was later lettered as the Prodigal. Phil looked at it while he was still alive but did buy it for numerous reasons. The car had been converted to a full tube chassis "Super Gas" car along the way and much of the original car was gone because of this. Neither of the Bonner Falcons survive. A replica of the blue '64 was built by Jim Cagle several years ago. The poppy red '65 AWB car was crushed by Ford after Phil turned it in when he received his longnose '66 Mustang.

  16. I'm hoping to go to Bonneville with @402BOSSMAN this year as well. Just have to see how work goes this year.

Thanks for that info. I never really heard any back story on that car.

Miss Kim collected shirts from almost all of the cars and made a quilt for Quain to give him at the banquet. She’s a keeper

    Oh, I like that!
Someone asked me once what was it about hot rods that held my infatuation and in my typical smart ass way I said I don't think quilting is very cool.
    I was wrong!
    Hows that foot doing Tony?
