Acquired this Darryl Starbird built 1963 Futura Falcon in Wichita Kansas this summer, even went down and spent the afternoon with Darryl & Donna, looking for old pictures, and information....I know about everything from new till about 1970, then nothing till 2004 when it was found behind a barn in Dodge City and brought back to its former glory with the help of many talented hands....I saw it 1st in 2006, chased it for 12 years....and bought it home, and added to my Flock of Falcons.....so Anybody....stories, interior pics from 1966 when built, or any missing decades of information about it, would be appreciated...

I got to see it the one and only time it was in Salina Kansas for the Leadsleds. Nice score.

I was given a album full of pixs, will take a week to scan them all in, may do so at some point, but I am looking for pics from 1966-when ever, thats the history I dont know....then, once I have a complete history.....I can share the last 53 years of its full journey.

O Kay, looking forward to seeing it in Indy. One of my Falcon buddies said he saw it at the Falcon convention and thought of me since he knew I liked customs. I said I knew which car he was talking about.

I'm a dyed-in-the-wool Falcon fanatic, but, honestly, that car doesn't look right to me. It's a lot of great work, don't get me wrong; it just doesn't "fit" the car. And, to be honest, Ford didn't make customizing roundbody Falcons very easy to stat with. The contours of the rear fenders and tail light area don't end right at the taillight bucket; they continue right up the side of the car. I like the radiused wheel wells and the fadeaways but the sculpturing looks out of place. Just my .02cents and your mileage may vary. I like the Holman/Moody Falcons much more.

Yep, you either Like it, or you don't....has been the reaction of it since I 1st saw it myself in 2004, a true 1 off as are all Starbird cars...That's what makes the hobby great....everything and everybody does their own thing... at least its not a Ford with a Small Block Chevy....LoL

This car reminded me somewhat of one of the original Mustang concepts. I found this drawing dated May 5, 1963. Quite a few similarities. Scan_0001.jpg

She was very sad when found, was being sold as a Parts car, and with a V8. 4 speed, 8" rear end would be a great donor, luckily someone recognized it, as a Starbird Original..... FB_IMG_1546309853520.jpeg

  16. I'd be honored to drive a custom built by Daryl Starbird! One of the "masters".
