Technical '40 sunvisors...need correct screws, thanks

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by lothiandon1940, Jan 21, 2019.

  1. My '40 hasn't had sun visors in all of the years that I've owned it. I've tracked down a couple of visor brackets, but no screws. Can anyone tell me the proper screws to use to attach the brackets to the little triangular piece that's now covered by the headliner? I can feel it, just can't see it. Thanks a bunch. ...Don.

Locate the holes through the fabric with a sewing needle.

  4. Thanks guys. I can feel the holes. I was just hoping someone could tell me which screws to look for when I go to the hardware store.:)

  5. ......Thanks. I had heard of his site, but never used it before. He has quite the extensive selection of proper Ford fasteners, but I couldn't find the ones for the visors.:(

They may be a 12-24 thread. Not up to speed on the 40's, but my 32 used them
    in a few places. D

Jerry beat me to it, LOL

I will go look--may have some somewhere-I recall them being a sheet metal type screw-but it's been a while-40 in uph shop now has visors and correct screws not installed yet.
I can remove one from mine and compare too

I got mine at Ace Hardware years ago. Give them a try. I think the originals are cadmium, plated, not chrome or nickle.
