how do you set timing on a blown engine with a crank hub instead of a marked damper? at first i thought use a timing wheel and mark the hub at 0 and use a tape. but the tape would be for a larger circumference circle. do blower hubs come marked? and then you would have to relocate the pointer also. my mind is moosh today. am i missing something?
All you need is a pointer and a mark on the pulley if you have a timing light with a built in advance in it. That would be on any engine blown or not though. #1 on TDC, make a mark on the pulley where you can hit it with the light and make a pointer that fastens to the front of the engine and points to that exact spot.
forgot about them fancy timing lights. i'm still using the craftsman one i bought 43 years ago when i was 16.. told you my mind was moosh. thanks for the reply. i'm going home now
Modern blower crank pulleys have timing marks on them, or you can get them with them. Marks are behind the cogged belt....oh, I said crank pulleys, I meant crank hubs that the pulley bolts to, check this part from BDS, Google it. Blower Drive Service CH-3199 Crank Hub w Timing ring
