Not sure if this will help but this is what I put in my 34. Not being as well informed as are many of the guys replying to you here, I have no idea what this is in terms of numbers and all. I bought the engine/trans as a package and was happy to just get one. The weld on the bellhousing is because it fell off a jack stand while positioning where it needed to go. ( I stood up, walked over, turned off the lights and left for the rest of the day.) The worst part is that that bellhousing is so wide inside that small space that it was a challenge to get the accelerator positioned. Moderators: I know I'm trespassing on the site with this shot because of being non-triditioal, excuse me but just thought I'd give "Omarsvette" a hand here with what I had no help with when blindly rushing into a build I had no help or expertise in.
A guy came over and saw my 354 Chrysler hemi with the heads off, asked the same question. "Flathead, right?" We went out back to the other shop, and he asked about my DeSoto hemi, heads off. "Flathead, little one. V8 60?" I was gonna take him out to lunch, but he was already there!
My 276" DeSoto has a cast 2 bbl intake. If anyone has seen these old 2 bbl intakes, they will see that there is ONE casting for both 2 & 4 bbls, just the holes and bolt bores are designated. Lots of room on the 'pad'...I'm going to open the 2 bores up to accommodate a nice 650 Holley 4 bbl. At least until I find a used 4 jugger... @34Larry, your Chrysler hemi is beautiful.
cut me some slack, im new to hemi world. us chevy guys are pretty basic haha, 34larry love the valve covers. thats in my plan. im also considering a dual intake.
I used the Hot Heads adapter (it cam with a bunch of parts I bought) and a 46rh trans out of a early 90 dodge that had a 318. Hot Heads also has an adapter for the small block chev bigger choice and easery to find.turbo 350,th400,2004r,7004r,4l60,power glide. Mine in 63 f100 with 46rh and lots of money
I ended up getting a hotheads adapterfor a th350, very easy to install. Plus super easy to get a th350.
My biggest grip with the early 331 is intake selection and cost. If you run the coman ones like this hot heads intake then you have to use tubing Or an or hose to remote thermostat housing. If you are lucky enough to find an intake with a thermostat housing built in there pricy.I plan to use this with 2- holley 450 2 barrel carburetor. no dont use the dual intake!! your single looks better. you could just sell me the dual and not worry about linkage, carbs, etc
is your oil filter pointing up? cant tell on your photo. mine from HH, points up 30degs, like the original. when i removed the original filter there was a spacer looking thing still attached to the block. is that supposed to come of. i have called HH yet.
it point up just like the factory did. I felt lucky I got the intake 2 years ago and it was $524 for the 2x4 it was in very good cond. I have see them go for $2400 Im not real sure why I put the hemi in the 63 F100 it was built and it fit the hemi will be worth more then the truck LOL
its got lots of nice parts in it the man I got it from had $8000 in receipts for parts and machine work just need to be put together $2000 well invested
that looks good. i have never seen hemi heads off. i understand the hemi shape CC. i think it will look good in your truck. i would love a hemi in my 56 chevy.
My buddy Gary Byers had a 62 Corvette running a push button Flite behind a 327 using a manual valve body Damm that thing was cool shifting gears by pushing buttons. If you want to push buttons a have a slip yoke drive shaft 1965 was the only year.
