Features Kustoms blues? I need to see some kustoms....

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by straykatkustoms, Oct 6, 2014.

  1. @myk roc Is that second photo of an updated version of the car?
I really like that look. Gives more of a "period" feel than the bar grill (although I liked it too).

I like everything about this car except the headlights (never been a fan of the slanted dual lights); aside from that, the color and stance are dead on- very nice job on a great car!

Motor Trend, August of 1952.The Merc of Zaro. Now resides in Illinois with one of it`s past owners who bought it from Kurt McCormick. Scan0827.jpg . I have always liked this car.

That is actually Johnny Zaro's 1941 Ford, still owned by Russ Erlinger (who purchased it in 1953!) .
A great article on CCC HERE: https://www.customcarchronicle.com/...stom-shop/johnny-zaro-1941-ford/#.XDgjKfx7ljc

Zaro's Merc (later owned by McCormick) is seen on the right. Zaro traded it in the late forties for John Vara's Barris-built '41 Ford. Kustomrama article on Varo's Merc HERE: https://www.kustomrama.com/index.php?title=Johnny_Zaro's_1940_Mercury

  10. Correct me if I’m wrong ( and I might be) but there’s a color photo of this thing somewhere on this forum. IMG_0050.JPG built by a gentlemen name of Al King in the late 50s.

This one appears heavily influenced by Ismael Roble's '55.

I guess there was not enough top support for the GW doors on Roble's Chevy, as the top was later removed altogether.

I've always assumed it was the same one. Lol!

  17. Blue one is a hardtop. Tower of Power was a post car (posts painted black).
    upload_2019-1-11_10-10-31.png

Later the posts and roof were removed and a removable "convertible" top was added.

New one on me! Appears to be a '55 Studebaker with its top chopped off and '57-ish Hawk tailfins added. Looks pretty sweet. 20190112_223146.jpeg

How about this Aussie built '62 Willys Jeep, with '38 front end?
