Guys trying to find out some information on the shifter. I know with the wealth of knowledge on this page someone will be able to help me determine what it is and who made it. Shifter is on top of a flat head transmission[IMG]

Looks like something out of an English tranny, MG. Jag.

I'm guessing it's from a military or commercial vehicle, pretty cool, I'm sure someone will know.

Strictly a WAG but it could be a transmission and shifter that was in an Allard?
The first Allards were flathead powered and as @nugget32 said it does have an English look to it.

  7. Wouldn't that move the shifter the wrong direction?

  8. Not in a sports car like one that you sat over the rear axle. Seat and cab rearward was pretty popular well into the early '60s on high end coach built cars.

Here's an example. Probably newer than the flathead powered cars but should give you an idea.

Looks like a neat design that someone needs to follow to create a mirrored version for Camaro T5’s to move the shifter forward.

  13. That is what was known as a remote shifter. A lot of European sports cars used remote shifters.

30 something years ago my neighbor had a north African campain, tracked rig...
it was a '41 and was flattie powered... he wanted $400 for it.... said no...
that would have bought me a lot of hockey sticks in 1983...
    had an odd shifter ??
