I’ve been flogging my roadster on the sand in Wildwood for the last four years. It’s time to build a new one so I grabbed some steel and a crappy old ‘27 T roadster body I had. Here’s what I have so far. TROG May be ten months away, but the Detroit Autorama is in less than 8 weeks so I’m gonna be busy. It belonged to a HAMBer who’s no longer with us (Fab32) his wife was kind enough to let me set up shop here.

That is going to be killer when it is done and have "the look" to boot. And a reminder to me that I need start busting my butt on mine as I have six months to get it on the road. It won't make it to Trog though a it has too many spark plugs in the row.

As long as it’s a flathead. I’ve seen some straight eight and bigger cars out there.

Made a little progress before heading to work. I swapped in the transmission I’ll be using and mocked up a torque tube. I was worried about misalignment with the chassis being this low, but I think I’ll be alright.[IMG][IMG][IMG][IMG]

Love the look . If the flathead sits where it appears you will need a dam in the Torque tube to stop the oil from the rear axle flowing into the transmission . Tardel and sea bright hot rods make something and probably others. Even with a stock frame and a mild 4” axle and rubber rake oil flows forward.
Though you probably were already aware of this.

Actually I wasn’t, thanks for the heads up. This is only the second torque tube car I’ve built and I hadn’t even thought of that.

Love the build. Body looks like a creampuff by my standards. Looking forward to seeing more.

It’s actually pretty rough, basically just good enough for a racecar body, but I’ve definitely seen worse.

Thanks! Yeah it’s just 2X4 .125 wall like the rest of the chassis with one side cut off. It’ll get boxed in and gusseted as well. The shop belonged to Fab32 he was a prolific HAMBer and my mentor. When he passed away his wife was kind enough to let me set up in his shop.

  25. Looks awesome...and I’m always amazed at how fast you get things done..one question...is it to low to run on the sand?

Thanks man! I love the thrash! And I work a 3 on 3 off 12 hour swing shift for my regular job. Yeah I’m definitely getting stuck, it’s getting some sort of pan or flat floor on the bottom of the frame.
