  1. Some "HA" 348 tri-power 280 hp engines for Turboglide equipped cars.
    Notice the painted exhaust manifolds.

Mark some great photos of Miller racecars. I have been a fan of anything Stutz Blackhawk for many years (really a Miller V-16-2 straight 8 Miller 91s to make a V16). Sadly Frank Lockhart lost his life but the engine survives today (I believe in the Sampson Special in the Indy (IMS) Museum.

The other picture on the boards is I believe the Baby Chevrolet as it looked right after it was finished in 1920 on the new Beverly Hills Boardtrack. I have a copy of a Los Angeles newspaper hanging in my shop with the headlines dealing with the racing of this car and others in February of 1920. This car was eventually destroyed in a crash and fire but the engine survived. I had a friend tell me back in 2003ish that a man by the name of Bill Castle owned the engine in Speedway Indiana. I called him up and visited with him (he was in his mid 80s and was an extremely talented engineer who crew chiefed for several Indy cars in the late 40s). It started a friendship that lasted until his death when he was in his 90s. In 2011 I had the great pleasure of riding in the recreation of this car at the Milwaukee Mile with his son Terry driving. It was great to be able to look over the cowl while motoring on the track and think what it may have been like when the car drove at speed on the old boartracks.

Funny deal here is a picture of me at Road America with a non operable recreation (wall hanger) of the Blackhawk. I had no idea the recreation would be there that day and I had wore my Stutz Blackhawk sweatshirt. Car interests me for some reason. File0040.jpg

Here is a picture I took over the cowl of the Baby Chevrolet in 2011 when I was priveleged to be a passenger for several laps.

After getting that great ride when I returned home I found someone had snapped a picture trackside of Terry and I in the Baby Chevrolet on that memorable day. I realize the grill is different but Durant who paid for the car later wanted his own radiator with the Durant badging.
