Slowly trying to bring this car back in time...
Nerf bar - rough draft - Low res.jpg
Speedway Nerf Bar kit, this is a test fit, welding not done.

I am not sure this will pass the correctness test. The age of the car is 1962 and the design is from the 1940's. Might be that I need an European address - Or be named Squirrel...

  9. Got up a first light and fed the outside wood furnace. Then played with the Grandsons. Then went and unloaded the engines I bought Tuesday. Pulled the plugs on the FE and filled the cyls with a 50-50 mix of auto Trans fluid and diesel fuel. Then went and cut a huge pickup load of firewood. Supposed to rain tomorrow and be nice Saturday. Now Saturday I can finish the engine swap in my wrecker and Sunday go get the 60 Pontiac.

Cleaning out my spam folder this morning, apparently some lawyer back east is holding a 14 million dollar estate for me cause he finally tracked me down, he checked and yep, based on my last name I'm the guy.....wowee, now I can afford a 32....

Apple support wants me to pay them $25 for work done to my iphone, got an official bill and everything....don't own any apple products and don't use my cell phone cause I have no service.

Life is grand, who knew I'd be this fortunate.

Cleaned the flywheel cover for the 425 Buick switch pitch turbo 400 and then beat out the dents... looked pretty good... better than I expected. Then finished cleaning and sanded a few spots and painted it. Also used emery cloth to polish the driveshaft end that will be reused to slide into the transmission when new driveshaft is put together later. Put some grease on it to protect the smooth surface until it is time to be used.
Also checked on the exhaust manifold finally found in CA and on its way... seller just called back and said the shipper said it will likely be next Thursday due to delays in their system. Looks like more time to clean the garage and make room to do the engine swap.

Got up at o dark thirty and drove up to Lancaster , got there around 9 AM it was still only 37 degrees...Picked up a Camaro subframe and posi rear end for my latest Chevy PU project . My adopted kid was driving so he needed to make a stop nearby to buy some OT LS stuff...The seller had shipping containers full of em, says he sends tons of em to our friends in Australia. Still ugly ass engines IMHO.

Hung some new shelves and peg board in the garage today, and then I heard this alluring sound and walked out to my neighbors field where a friend was romping around in his 327 powered square body. I'm not much into trucks, but it was a pretty sweet rig. Didn't get a pic of the truck, but here's a start to garage organization!

Bought a Bulldozer today. Fixed the hydraulics on my forklift today, and picked up a Plymouth 230. Tomorrow I get my slab ready for excavation. Hopefully will have forms in next weekend.

Are you referring to the John Deere 440? It's a 1961, and is a actual Crawler. It's not a tractor conversion... The front blade is a six way blade. The Detroit is shot, so I will do a in frame rebuild on it.

My Pettibone I bought last year. I have been fixing one little thing at a time. All I got left is the brakes and the gas tank...

Naw.... on my first construction job, the foreman came in and asked” can anyone here run a front end loader ? “ Coming from the ranch I was pertty good with a front end loader, so I said” yeah” thinking I was going to get an easy job on my first day!.... I noticed the older guys kinda snickering.... I thought what the heck???

We took a few steps.... he told me to”grab that shovel and follow me” !

  23. Woke up to a splendid day! Warm January days in Omaha don't come often so I took full advantage. Did house shit 'till 2 and leaped into my 34 coupe...temps were 55-57 degrees! Drove over my buddy with a 33, 3 window to shoot the shit. His car hasn't turned a wheel yet...a fresh build almost 20 years in the making. I know, it looks like a 'glass bodied car but it has the original frame and the body - all steel...even the fenders! I screwed up the camera and it came out black and white...too bad because it's a pearl baby blue. Sounds awful but knocks your eye out. Cleaned and organized my garage and work shop again. Watched the news and SNL...the end 33eds1_19.JPG

  24. That ripper will come in handy. The weak spot on those old Deeres is the steering clutches. They get a bit of oil or grease on them and will glaze over and start slipping.

  27. I pretty much finished the engine swap in my OT Wrecker. Would have got completely done but it was a pretty day and I had several visitors. Didn't sell anything they all wanted to sell something to me. I suppose everyone is broke from Christmas Spending?

Bought a alternator to put on my 1961 Crawler. Inventoried a bunch of parts to put a OT Challenger TA back to original...

Spent 1.5 hours talking to a 99 year old WWII veteran.

DSCF9552.JPG Met the new owner of my '39 Ford Pickup project, it's going to a great home. This is the first big item to leave this year, hope to move more, make more room, focus on the Steelback & Roadster. Happy New Year! Bob

  30. Worked on the '50 coupe with the doors open, the sun was shinning and the thermometer reached 70 degrees.

Got the coupe fired off and thought about washing some of the dirt & grime off after I back the car out of the garage but decided to take a ride and wash it when I got home, time caught up with me and I'm glad the lights work. :)

That 351 sounds good too. HRP
