Hope these pics aren't too massive? Anywho... what set-up do you prefer for plate location? Like all of them my car is fenderless with the pontiac tail-lights like #4. Thanks for chiming in!

I hear ya belair. Once those fender get tossed there's no obvious place. Stock location would block the drivers tail light and take a beating from road debris

#3 would be the choice of those offered.

Last pic is best option for Pontiac lights and hi-boy style car.
I’ve been through this exercise and still wonder what to do.
Currently think best option is stock location with small inconspicuous plate light.
A couple of other options I’m happy to post, if you want to add more confusion to the equation !

    Top:
Stock front plate bracket used on rear spreader bar.
    2nd:
    Recessed back under the car.
    3rd:
    Middle of spreader bar.
    Bottom:
    Looks more hot roddish...

I intend to eventually run Pontiac lights also, but still have to work out if they will miss the rumble seat lid.

Never really liked this idea, stock front bracket upside down.
And no, - I wouldn’t use a cable tie to hold it on !

    Here is my input:

I like the location of picture #4, but I personally like the look of the actual purpose made license plate brackets. Looks well thought out and planned. You can also add a license plate frame with tag light to accomplish this if you place it on a body panel, but just drilling the two holes and attaching the tag makes it look like an afterthought.

Therefore, Picture #1 and Picture #3 have actual license plate brackets and look well thought out. Pictures #2 and #4 look like the builder just put two holes wherever it would fit. Picture #4 does have a light over it, and I personally like that location better, I just think he/she needs a license plate surround to tie it together with the tag light.

From the other guys posts: I really like: Bandit Billy’s, Low Budget’s cause his does what I described earlier and I like its location, My Model A is similar to Lil32’s, I like Pic #1 and the last pic of Clem’s, and 56don’s it pretty neat also.

In conclusion, I guess I really don’t think the location matters as much as the execution of the craftsmanship.

I'd say any of 1 - 3, definitely NOT 4. Maybe you're over thinking it, just keep it low down by the spreader bar & fuel tank and you'll be good.

I prefer to see them tucked as far under the bumper as possible and still be visible.

Not a coupe but just to give the idea.

I'd shorten those empty/extended rear frame rails if you are not running the stock tank? I did mine, and added a 40s Olds woodie center tailgate emblem that I turned into a 3rd rear light.

Lol, that cop stopped me for the 2nd time that eve, this time he asked what those 1932 plates are!
