I see where the coolant comes up through the intake and to the radiator but since the passages are blocked by the timing cover where coolant comes out????

I usually like a 55 sedan best but if I had a hardtop, something like this would do it for me;)

Looks like a pump that the green hose is hooked to.

Famous racer at Dover went on a long winning streak. I THINK it was later lettered Mammy's Whammy.

  11. ^^^^ Nope it's the Wapid Wabbit very early on pre lettering and pre engine set back. Their tow vehicle was a '55 wagon painted the same color green

  12. That's a Jabsco electric bilge pump. I'm using one since I first saw one on Barb Hamilton's original unrestored Willys gasser "ole blue"

I lived through the ''gasser" period and still have trouble with the fact the NHRA (no hot rods allowed) eliminated that class and, yet, some Hot Rodders are still taking the independent front suspension out and putting straight axles under tri- five cars. Some of them so high they have to drive with their heads out the window. On the other hand Street Rodders are taking the straight front axles out from under fat-fendered cars and replacing them with independent front suspension, and lowering them. I see a lot of irony here. Where I grew up as a kid, stock looking cars got trick, race-car-like suspension, hot motors; some Fords ran what was then called the McCullough supercharger; and, later J2 Olds engines were put in fifties Oldsmobiles. All these cars ran quiet as a good refrigerator. Some looked just like family grocery getters. Only they could carry a lot of hooch in gallon jugs replaced full back in the cardboard boxes. Now days, most cars, including this new breed of gasser look like they are going to a race, but I think, other than Nostalgia races they sit a lot. They can't be Street driven very fast on account of 'the Man' with the flashing blue lights. I see a lot of irony here, too. And, I am smart enough to never make any suggestions, cause we all have the need to do stt to keep us out of the pool halls and all that stuff. Life is beautiful, and having fun is the best thing you can get up to. Maybe even build yourself a go fast toy.

  15. I too cant see the logic that putting a straight axle under a independent front suspension car makes it better. and pulling the straight axle from under a I beam truck and going to independent suspension also makes that truck better????

Logic is that if you put a beam type axle in a Gas Class car the independent cross member can be eliminated along with all the steering linkage for much simpler leaving the bottom of the engine area open for bottom end access, engine mounts, headers, et all including engine set back of 10%..
Logic is if you remove beam axle and replace with independent the ride becomes more like a car and lowering the vehicle is easier; canyon carving is also possible..
Crevate is better for intended use..

  24. FWIW: The current A/ Gas, B/Gas, C/Gas , etc. are modern "nostalgia" event, index , breakout classes.
No relation to the Gas Coupe and Sedan class.

  28. You are correct. What I meant was in the realm of this picture, and some of the stuff they run, particularly on the West Coast at so-called Nostalgia races

  29. North American Outlaw Gassers is a Facebook group, who apparently doesn't have a clue what traditional gassers are...either.
