    Great photos and information, Rootie.

I'm only guessing but this could be one of the 1956 rear drive Novi chassis; at least one was never accounted for. A friend of mine who worked for Dick Simon at Indianapolis told me that Dick had talked of racing against an old Novi during his supermodified days. This is likely the car. Do you happen to know where this photo was taken and in what year?

Thanks as always and have a Happy (and Safe) New Year!

It was shortened up and then raced around the SLC area in the mid 60s. Here's a couple more shots of it.

It looks to me that it was probably the ex-Malone car by the cutout for the headers that they opened up for the new headers.

Northwest car known as the Top Banana. Survived and lives out East somewhere. This is at Arlington WA. Couple more Arlington repeats.

The clogged wind shield probably had something to do with where he landed up not to mention it probably signals his first visit to that heavy track

According to the 1998 book, "Novi, The Legendary Indianapolis Race Car (Vol. Two)" by George Peters and Henri Greuter the Art Malone Novi stayed intact and at the time the book was written was in the International Motorsports Hall of Fame Museum at Talladega. This was the 1956 Paul Russo car. The other 1956 chassis was sold by Andy Granatelli after he bought the cars in 1961. Again, this information is from the book which notably makes no mention of any Novi becoming a supermodified and also states that the car hadn't been seen in public since 1960. At any rate your photos are the first I've seen of the car in its' new configuration so thanks again for posting them!
