    Hi A ll,
Looking at building a 40's style custom 34 tudor and was looking for some input as how much is the perfect chop?
Your thoughts, pics or suggestions are welcome and appreciated.
Attached is a photo of a car i quite like and its got a good profile (for a 4 door).

Go to the top chopping 101 , I think that's what it's called, thread on here. Go through that ...I posted a article on chopping tops, it's called "You asked for it" and it gives alot of info on things to think about when deciding to chop or not and it covers several cars plus I posted other articles also on it ....

I think on 33-34 sedans its a mild chop that sings. 2"-3" max....

IIRC he did it twice. Just chopped til he thought it looked right. I think he did it right.

I didnt chop mine, so I can't say how much it's been chopped..all welds are gas and hammer welded, which makes me think it has been done ages ago.

Kenny Baker out of Elmor Missouri chopped my 34 about 10 years ago. I'm super happy with it. Not sure if he still chops cars or not. Super great guy to deal with.

He removed 2 1/2 inches out of the front and 2 inches out of the back. He lowered the rear window 2 inches, then took one inch out of the top of it since it looked so weird with such a larger back window. You can click the link below to see before and after chop pictures. Having been putt-putting around in it for the past 10 years, I personally wouldn't go more than 2 1/2". Whether you choose the angle chop or not, that's up to you. If I didn't tell you that it was chopped 1/2" more in the front, you'd never know it.

You can tell from the pictures I posted ten years ago, that I work pretty slowly on it and the other two Hot Rods I have.

The one Baumi Posted looks to have the same chop as mine in the front, but I think his is chopped 2 1/2 all the way around.

Thank you for all the information, the car looks good and no, I didn’t notice the extra half inch. I’m thinking that 2.5 inches is going to be the winning number for the Tudor.

    Wait for it

New to HAMB so bear with me. Recently got my hands on a 34 Tudor that I believe to be built by someone in Ohio in the early 2000's. Not a high end build but has some good bones. I am trying to figure out how much has been chopped. I'm guessing 2". Does anyone have a stock measurement from the running board to top of door or ?

    Thanks in advance

    Steve
