Technical Favorite Oil Filter Brand?

I've seen many threads on favorite oil filters. Like Oil they seem to generate loyal followers.
Today by accident I found this gem on Youtube. Somebody actually cut all the different brands apart and posted the results in a no BS no fluff video.
I found the innards of a filter quite interesting. The results will probably not surprise you if you have been around cars a while...

 

Wix. Best bang for the buck.

 

Wix. I have a turbo'd VW buggy. If i use a 51515 the oil filter will burst on startup. If i use a 51515R it will not.

 

That’s why I buy only Wix filters. I figured this out 30 years ago by comparing a Wix and Fram air filter at a parts store. The Wix was twice as heavy, thicker paper, more of it. I held them both up to the sun, you could actually see through the Fram filter, not the Wix and the Wix was the same price at that time. That was enough for me, been Wix ever since.

Wix. Napa gold. I use either nothing else.

 

Wix is pretty good. I tend to use Delco filters and Motorcraft filters too, though.

Frams are pretty scary when you open them up.

yeah, it's not as bad as Fram

besides, it's going on GM junk, so what does it matter?

 

What I find funny is that guy is from apparently something called” do it right” and he cuts the filters with a grinder instead of a filter cutting tool. Lol

Bottom line, Fram is crap and almost any other brand will be better....

As a side note, Harley sold a very popular performance air filter kit for their bikes for years, contracting with K&N for the filter element. Somehow Fram got the contract, and the new versions were known for falling apart in-place, sending bits of the filter through the motor. Sales dropped off precipitately...

I use wix or Napa gold which is a wix filter.

 

I sell Delco...therefore, I use Delco if I can. If I can't, Wix gets my $$.

 

NAPA Gold which is a Wix I believe.

Been using Wix for years.

 

A few years ago fram was scoring pistons & cylinders on 5.9 Cummins, by the dozens just around here.
The 5.9 has a row of oil ports that squirt on the cyls. and particles from filter were plugging them up.
I hope everybody already knew that. Sorry if I intruded.

Wow, that's certainly changed my opinion! I bought a PP for my 46 Olds, might invest in another for my 35 Chebby. Not cheap but washable, magnet in base, SS mesh etc
