Hot Rods Stitching together three model A bodies this winter for future builds. Vicky, coupe and roadster

I bought a tired 31 Vicky body at the Springfield swap meet in August and my father and I decided in early September to try to make something of it. After roughing it in with a 32 header and firewall we sent it off for sandblasting and while waiting for it to be blasted we stitched together some coupe pieces for another build. Once we had that ready to blast the Vicky still wasn’t done blasting so we pulled some roadster parts out of my stash and roughed in a roadster. Now 4 months into this triple build, we have all blasted and ready to build floors and finish prepping the bodies for epoxy. We plan to fully build the Vicky first followed by the other two, all with 32 frames and firewalls.

Woo hoo, someone has more projects than I do. I sure like that 32 header on the Vicki. That's an interesting batch of projects in that shop.

How do you get the deuce firewalls in them???

 

Cut off the front lip of the model a and use the 32 lip instead. Also you have to chop 1 1/4 inches off the bottom of the firewall feet and make replacement plates for the bottom.

It really begs the question, what else have you got hidden away in "The Stash"?

 

When these three are done, I have another 31 roadster that needs put together and a few 30/31 coupes and a couple 28/29 phaetons.

Thank you...Can you still use the Model A gas tank???

 

I’ve never tried to use a 32 firewall with a model A gas tank still in place but I’m sure it would be in the way. I either shorten the back of the body to use a 32 tank on the stock 32 rails or fabricate one to go in the trunk.

Sweet...i need a Vicky to go w my Coupe...jealous! I would like to be able to pull a trailer w the Coupe on it by a Vicky...wud b bitchin....roll into Bowling Green...yeah!

I’ve been saying that I need to put a hitch on that Vicky with a 454 and use it as my daily driver. It would be a blast to use it to drag home model a bodies that I buy in the four state area.

I have a full time job at a software company and dad is 85 so he doesn’t put in as many hours in the garage as he used to ... so some days nothing gets done by either of us.

The coupe has sedan doors (longer) and a 5 inch chop. When we get these to the epoxy stage, I want to build another coupe with sedan doors and a 32 header and 5 inch chop assemble my other 31 roadster body.
