Someone long ago replaced it and overlapped it, long story short we cut it off and butt welded it back on. But the car in the background belongs too the previous owner of the ranchero. It had sat for a while and I got it running and took it too a few car shows and learned how too drive the 4-speed in it. Plan on returning it too the track in the spring.

Like the lightening holes on the inner rockers. Was that rust repair done inside the bed?

You should tell everyone how you forgot to take your doors to the blaster.

Not the most glamorous work, but well worth it. Reminds me of mine at that stage. Felt like we were over the hump and headed for home. Little did I know, lol

Ohhhhhhh...IF I could only get down on the floor(or squat down) and do welding like that! I once could but.........now not so much.
I would need it all jacked up on a table for me to weld it up now.:(

We made them, got the heim ends and wheels online and the aluminum we just had bent by a guy with an English wheel.
The steel rods have threaded bungs welded into the ends.

How close does the pinion angle need to be prior to welding the spring floater brackets on, how much adjustment do you have once they are in place?

We set the pinion angle with the car at ride height and the rear end blocked in place, and then welded the floater brackets on. With the adjustable ladder bars there should be quite a bit of adjustability of the pinion angle but we never actually measured it. The engine block and pinion are set straight in line with each other. This may not be the right way too do it it’s our first one like this using the floater style setup.

Got the rear end back from being narrowed and put it in with the new shocks, and built a battery box. Got the new rear brakes in and ordering axles soon.
