Any Minnesota hot rodders have any info on these pictures? People, cars or clubs? These pictures were sent to me by David Storgaard they were his fathers. He contacted me after seeing my posts on the GSTA documentary. Due to divorce he knows very little about his fathers hot rod past. He was told his father was in GSTA and the Twin Cities Timing Assoc, this info may or may not be correct. His dads name is Neil Jerome Storgaard, he went by Jerry. He lived in Minneapolis and believes he went to South High. In the picture with 3 cars Jerry is center on the right.
In this picture it looks like Jerry is standing by the roadster. Gene Sonnen said the roadster was seen at multiple rod runs and he thought two brothers owned it. It was the first hot rod to be featured in Hot Rod Magazine he says. It would be great if anyone knew anything else. Thanks
I think the roadster was owned by guy from St Paul in the 60's. If it is the car I remember it had a 6 banger Chevy in it. I think it was a 30 chev with the drivers door welded shut. I have a picture of that car if I can find it. It was owned most recently by Fred Hesley, a MSRA member and lives in Mathomedi, MN. I will look for the picture Jenny. Priceless pics @stichbitch...more more more......AND your Upholstery Work is exemplary. Thanks for sharing those.
@stichbitch - sent you a conversation, have a little info for you on the Jansen roadster. Thanks for working on this project!
Thanks for posting - that photo is from the magazine feature in the June 1953 Hot Rod Magazine: "North Country Stovebolt".
Cool history. I saw that car stored in a garage in St Paul, MN In maybe the late 50's or early 60's. It was for sale. The guy selling it had a copy of that hot rod magazine laying on the front seat. A friend if mine ended up buying it. Sent from my VS500 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Cool story, thanks. How long did your friend have it? I was given info that the roadster was owned by someone in Austin MN around 1980 or so. That's fairly close to @Roadsir territory, maybe he can fill in a blank?
The guy that bought it is Fred Hesley. He sold it s while ago. He is a MSRA member. That is all I know Sent from my VS500 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
An old friend who passed away about 3 years ago (Tom Jansen) told me that his dad had a roadster that had a chevy 6 cylinder in it years ago! Maybe the same car?
I bet it is. The old picture I posted said on it, owned by the Jansen brothers. That old car is getting a lot of attention. Sent from my VS500 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Looking through an old Album and found these pics taken at Minnesota Dragways. Jim Anderson, the Sather Bros. and the Jim Lutz and Myron Lundberg cars. The last time I talked to Myron he said somebody in Apple Valley had the Olds and was in the process of restoring it, that was years ago. Hope they bring it back to life!
