I personally am a fan of stock length wheel bases... My avatar car had the same set up (although not an old roundy round car) and I didn't hesitate to remove that and go back to the original setup. I like what you're doing to your car! Keep it up! 3blap.

Ha a can of worms for sure! Planning to add another seat, cutting open the passenger door will be another whole can of worms. A new set of frame rails should have been a no-brainer, but I guess that would have been just too easy for me! Thanks for the kind words Carp Thanks! With how I had it set up, it was actually the stock 112” wheelbase with the spring ahead. The chassis has been slightly modified over the years, to say the least. The front axle has been my biggest struggle making a decision. Stock set-ups look mint, but there’s just something about building a car that’s different ya know? Thanks man! Staying channeled for sure, but likely being raised slightly (to make more headroom for a future chop ).... Thanks for the compliment on the grille- that’ll be staying; one of my favorite cars of my coupe. And yeah I think I’m over the TROG bug.... I tried again for TROG ‘18 just to be jerked around again. After kissing ass for a while I finally lost it, and let the guy running it know where he could shove his race I’m glad you’ve enjoyed the journey! It’s been fun revisiting this thread to see the changes.... I guess most hot rods have similar fates throughout their lifespan! Thanks! It’s all a learning experience for me... The first time I got this going I pretty much taught myself how to weld with it... 6 years later I’m shaking my head at my mistakes and learning how to fix them!

glad you told em to take that race and shove it haha, that kind of members only exlusionist behavior makes the world of car building harder and smaller which is counterproductive for all of us

Pics of the other side’s frame repair in the rear kick-up: Tore down a ‘35 front end. Kingpins came out decent, had to torch one spindle. Wishbone bolts were a challenge. Laid out a pattern... Went for it. 13 x 7/8” holes. Went easy with a fresh hole saw and some oil.
Some more shots from the front. Mocked up using an old drop axle I have (temporarily robbed from another project). Need to figure out how I want to recess the firewall. I think ‘35 Ford pickup firewalls work well?

Thought I’d give a bit of an update. Made up my own sub rails. Had some 13 gauge bent at 90. 6”x2”. Cut. Bend. Weld. Not easy, not great, but cheap enough. Cut out a floor. Don’t have a bead roller so I just made it out of 16 gauge. Trying to get the stance just right before I weld the body to the subrails. Wasn’t after the heavy rake that I had before. Ended up putting in the ‘35 axle I drilled and borrowed the reverse spring and stepped split bones (I think they’re from the later axles?). Can’t wait to chop this thing. Body is still rough. But I want to just get this thing on the road again. Fix a few more things, and slap another coat of cheap alkyd enamel is the plan for the immediate future.
