  1. I always like to post a photo when I check in! This is one shot by Tam McPartland at the famous "Corkscrew at Laguna Seca Raceway last August!

It's no wonder they put it out to pasture right? ;)

  4. Howdy Everyone! Had a quick question, I’m thinking of selling my three bolt head/water pump setup as I want to go to a 4bolt Head. What would something like this go for? (Just head and water pump)

Hey retson, what the compression ratio on the head? I might be interested in it.

  8. It’s 4.6, same as the stock B head. I’m sure you can shave off a few thousandths to bump it up. Not asking too much for it

D6E04F56-2E15-46DF-A343-0E1D971A62A2.jpeg Anyone have an aluminum Thomas head to compare this to?
Just wondering if they have the same combustion chamber.
This is a cast iron Thomas, I was told 7:1
Wasn’t really looking for one but when it was available I had to take it.

It look similar to my repop Thomas aluminum head. Which is advertised at 6.7 compression.

It might be old info for many here, but at the bottom of the pages in this link is a chart that translates head volume in CC's to approximate compression ratio. http://www.fordgarage.com/pages/headcompressionratio.htm
I could see it being helpful if you have an "unknown" CR head.

IMG_3047.JPG I live about 100 ft over sealevel and I use 43 as main jets and smallest available powervalves on my 214 cui 4-banger, tuned it in with a wideband lambda and got it close to perfect, a little to the rich side.

The trans is a side loader and appears to be a Borg Warner T-85 OD. The OD should be an R-11. If all that is true you could not possibly hurt it with anything a good strong B-Banger will do. You'll break the crank, drive shaft, U-joints, rear gears, axles, and shear the hub keys before the trans knows there was a problem.

  24. Seriously though. I have three B blocks and none of them have a number cast into the side. This one does. I know it is a diamond block so may be a later model.

My understanding is that on Diamond blocks, those numbers are the month and year the casting was cast. 2 = Feb 38 = 1938

I did get it fired up in November but you know how that goes....a little more time on it and drove it out of the garage and up and down the drive. Have some tuning to do but it is healthy. I'm going to like the T-5..
