Thanks for showing the part of the cut a lot of folks forget about. The trim and WS frame is important
On a side note I have been anti- filled tops many times here. Most of the time they are lapped over and welded
In my younger days I was the guy that got to do all the mud work on these

This is why I started butt welding every thing I could. Makes the finish work so much easier

I don't have any more progress pics to show because the chop at this point was done. Here are pics of the finished product.

I like the way this part turned out. Cutting out the sail panel then reinstalling after the top chop helps preserve the compound curve of the roof corner.
For my first attempt to chop a car, I'm very satisfied with the results. It's good but not perfect. There are high spots and low spots. There is a lot of work to do to get the door gaps right, some spots are to tight some are to wide. I'll deal with these later on in the build.

I hope this helps anyone who is thinking about chopping their car. I certainly benefited from others sharing their work. I never would have tried this without seeing how others have done it.
Now a question for you guys. Should I continue this thread as a build thread, or should I start another for that. What do you guys think.
The next step in the build will be getting the engine installed. It's a 49' Olds 303 Rocket with a T5 five speed trans.
I'll be posting a separate thread on the HAMB asking for help with any tips or info I need to do this engine swap right. Keep an eye out for that. If anyone here has any experience or knowledge with putting an Olds Rocket in a Duece coupe post your comments in that new thread. I'll try to get that started this weekend.

Excellent from what we can see in the pictures. If it is not perfect I have faith that you can fix whatever is not up to your standards. In real life we may see them too but it looks exceptional from here in WV. I would keep this thread going to keep it all together from start to finish.

I see no reason to start a new thread, but if you decide to do so, then please post a link to it on this thread. That would be the simplest and easiest mway to help ensure that we all find it.

Had a thought. Your '32 will likely be around long after we're all gone. Most guys have pictures of their build. But a copy of this thread could go along with the car.
