I did a tune up on my 350 small block.
    I replaced
    Plugs
    Wires
    Cap
    Rotor
    And module
I can’t get it to start now
    I’ve put motor at TDC
Harmonic balancer mark lined up at 0 mark
Rotor lined up looking at spark plug wire #1 on distributor cap.
Car damn near starts but just won’t
It will back fire a little every once in a while out of the carb trying to start it.
Also the choke flap on carb stays open?

    You say module, so HEI.

Did you put the center contact in, under the coil?

Was there a specific reason you changed the module?

Is rotor lined up on #1 in the compression stroke? If not you could be 180 deg. off.....................

Hi. Try the simple thing & put the old module back in and see what happens. Lots of auto parts stores are selling the Chinese junk and not unusual to get bad electronic parts. Jimmie

We don't know if the motor was turned over whether with starter or by hand or if you took the dizzy out and back in again. If looking for true TDC take #1 plug out, stick finger over hole, (PLEASE DISABLE COIL) turn motor over by hand (remote starter button) till you feel pressure on your finger. Somewhere around there, if your harmonic and pointer are correct TDC should line up, That is TDC on compression stoke, now point rotor to #1 plug on dizzy. Fire up and fine tune by loosening dizzy to find timing. Plug advance to vac. canister or carb. You will get way more opinion's if you post your questions on the main forum under technical!

You should not be able to put an HEI rotor 180º out, but I have seen two people pull it off.

It is keyed, and that should stop you, but....

Some off-shore rotors have overlong screws, and you can get the rotor on, wrong.

Probably ended up being so simply, that he was too embarrassed to follow up.

You need to make sure you are on TDC on compression stroke. Sounds like you are 180 degrees off.
Not sure exactly everything you did but just remember that TDC comes up twice, once on compression and once on exhaust. So you need to pull plug from number one and have some one bump starter till you feel it blow your finger out then check for TDC mark. Then see were Rotor is pointing, that is number 1 on firing stroke. Then wire it 18436572 in a clockwise rotation.
    Hope this helps.
